There are many opportunities in life that cross our path every day. Chances to do both good and evil come our way constantly. We need to be awake, alert and aware to not fall into temptation.We also need to recognize the opportunities that arise that are good, positive and needful things to do.
We need to be ready to say Yes.
Yes to that subtle prompting of the Spirit that says pray for this one, smile at that one, help this one with a need, give a compliment or a kind word to the next one you meet.
Say yes and act, instead of being preoccupied in your own world. I am guilty of being so wrapped up in my own journey that I don't even SEE the opportunity to bless others.
Also, opportunities arise in life concerning ministries or occupations that God may be directing you to do, but fear or unbelief may be holding you back. Pray and seek counsel from Godly mentors. If you do that and still feel a prompting to take a leap of faith, say yes and leap!
After all, our God is big enough to help you get back on track if you misunderstood what He wanted you to do. But if you say no and never try, you'll never know.

We definitely need to be more receptive to the needs of others.
And it's so simple to bless others... it's the little things that count - a smile, a kind word, a hug...

ReplyDeleteThis excerpt, Jerralea, captures exactly the challenge I worked on over Lent. The more I slowed down and really looked for the opportunities, the more I realized how basic they are. Two that have been heavy on my heart are treating others with loving kindness and taking action to feed the hungry in my community. I am trying to be more prayerful so that I don't lose sight of these things.
