Mid-February Dream

Mid-February, I begin to get cabin fever and start longing for a different climate - one with color!

I have been at the same job long enough that I receive three weeks vacation per year.  Usually I spend those weeks at home doing some kind of organizational challenge or preparing for some kind of holiday.  I just can't fathom a day with nothing to accomplish!

This year, I would like things to be different.  Of course, one of those weeks will be spent in Colorado loving on my new twin grands, Baylee and Brody.  I can hardly wait to cuddle me some babies!

But what to do with the other two?

If money were no object, then I'd like to go someplace where I could just chill for days on end. I'd like to spend endless days lounging in the shade reading or writing, or maybe even just thinking (!), preferably near water. Then in the evenings, get casually dressed up and go for dinner.  The perfect ending would be walking the beach and enjoying the sunset. Then tomorrow, get up and do it all over again.

Yeah, that would be good.

Normally, I like sight-seeing and visiting shops and thrift stores in the area I'm visiting.  I adore touring historical sites.

I've dreamed of visiting Ireland, Scotland and Israel. Visiting Prince Edward Island is definitely on my bucket list.

But in the middle of winter, lazing on a beach is close to paradise ...

or else going on a Caribbean cruise ...

Yeah, that would be good.

  1. How fun to have twin grands! I can't even imagine. I know the parents will love your visit too. :) I'm always torn with vacation time: just sit and relax and read, or go visit new sites. Lazing on a beach is up next for me though--hubby has a business trip planned so I must keep him company for that--especially since it's on a warm beach. ha.

  2. I could almost hear the waves as I looked at your beach picture. Counting down until my beach trip in April!

  3. There is nothing like standing on the beach and looking at the beautiful handiwork of our Lord! The days you describe are days we spent in Playa del Carmen. In the dead of winter there is nothing like this great escape! (especially after the winter we have had!)

I don't think one week in CO will be enough! :)

  4. I would love to visit all of those places too! It's interesting how when we talk about our ideal vacations they're almost always choices that bring us peace. Allow us to sit and just take in the sunshine and waves. Sounds like perfection to me. :)
