However, if anything comes up at all where I have to go outside, I must first stop and go put on my shoes.
When talking about spiritual armor, Ephesians 6:15 tells us,
and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Having your shoes on at all times speaks of being ready for anything. In other words, you are prepared to go wherever He might send you.
Perhaps you might be sent somewhere the gospel has never been preached. You need to know the foundations of your faith. The gospel should be the bedrock of all you know and teach.
The gospel - the good news there is a remedy for sin! What better news could there be?
This ties in with what the prophet Isaiah said, "How beautiful are the feet who bring good news!"

ReplyDeleteLove it. I too am a barefooter....but have to have them on to go outside. I keep Crocs by the door for that very purpose. I love talking about putting on the whole armour of God. I am working on a set of children's sermons about that.
ReplyDeleteI'm a barefoot girl too. When I first started doing Flylady (years ago!), I discovered that I actually could wear shoes all day though and be okay. :) It did make it easier for me to get things done because I was already ready to step outside or whatever. Thanks for sharing this. Maybe I'll go put my shoes on....
