You're Protected

Our next piece of armor is the breastplate mentioned in Ephesians 10:14.

"Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,"

The breastplate protects the vital organs so it is an essential piece of equipment. The same is true of your spiritual armor - the heart above all must be protected.

What does it mean to have a breastplate of righteousness?  Righteousness is right standing with God. It is NOT personal goodness because our goodness can never measure up to His standards.  When God looks at the believer, He looks through the blood of Jesus to see us.

When we have a sense of right standing with God, it lifts our heart and gives awareness that we are His child and our Pappa will defend us.

It is true that satan is the accuser of the believer.  Living a pure moral life is the best defense against allegations from the wicked one - or ungodly people who love to hold Christians to extremely high standards. Don't give satan any fuel for his fiery accusations.

Yet, we are human.  We will mess up.  On our best day, our righteousness is filthy rags compared to the righteousness of Christ.  Isn't it awesome that our victory depends on Him and not us!

Examine your heart today.  Make sure all is well between you and God and then take heart.  You're protected.
