Daybook: 08.19.13

FOR TODAY, MONDAY, AUGUST 19TH

Outside my window...
fog and 66°

I am thankful...that Elissa will be closing on her first house on Friday.  The loan process took forever but it finally got done.  It's wonderful seeing your child so excited!

In the kitchen... turkey roast tonight, planning chicken and dumplings for tomorrow night.

I am wearing
... white jean capris with a black top with white embroidery around the neck.

I am reading...book 2 of Beverly Lewis' series, Home to Hickory Hollow.  I'm getting ready to read some books of a more studious nature.  Should I choose C.S. Lewis or Dietrich Bonhoeffer?

I am looking forward to... time off

I am learning ... to take nothing for granted.  Life can change in an instant.

A favorite quote for today...

"We are what we repeatedly do; excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit" - Aristotle

Remember, it takes at least 21 consistent days to create a habit.

One of my favorite things...possibilities!

A peek into my day...

  1. Hi Jerralea! I love your new photo!

I wish you'd come over to my house to cook and plan meals. My husband asks me every day "What's for dinner?" and I have no idea. Maybe I could get a little busier planning!

I like your post, because I get to know a little bit more about you. Thanks for your visit today, too!

    Happy Tuesday,
    Ceil

  2. Not taking things for granted is something I am learning too.

  3. Jerralea, thank you for stopping by and "following" me. I enjoyed your sweet note.

I also have enjoyed reading your daybook entry. It is wonderful to see your grown children so excited. We went through that with our daughter and son-in-law a couple of years ago when they bought their first home. And I enjoyed the quote that you shared from Aristotle. Just thinking about the fact that excellence is a result of habit gives me hope. Twenty one days isn't such a long time to do away with the old by replacing it with the new!

  4. How exciting for your daughter. Ironically, I've been helping my mother buy her first home alone (since the passing of my dad). She is moving back to Georgia where she grew up. I'm happy that she seems so excited. And I've never tried Bonhoeffer but I love CS Lewis. The only one that was too much for me to get through at the time was The Four Loves. Maybe I ought to try it again. Always fun to hear about your day.
