F.F.F. - 05.24.13

What a great day!  The air is cool and crisp for a late spring day.  It's Friday which means I can wear jeans.  I've had a great work-out.  I'm refreshed and ready to start my day.

Actually, it's been a good week.

1. It started with last Saturday's road trip with our friends, Wayne and Glenda. We went on a road trip and visited The Iris Farm.  The Iris Farm is run by a sweet Mennonite family.  When in peak seasons, there can be as many as 40,000 blooms.  I took a ton of photos - the irises against the beautiful blue sky surrounded by green fields was irresistible.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Wouldn't you love to be a kid and have this playhouse amongst the flowers?

Of course, we each bought some irises to take home and plant.  Hopefully, next spring, we will have a colorful reminder of this spring afternoon road trip. Then we headed to our favorite pizza place and had our favorite, The Saluki Special.

2,  Last week, I mentioned the knock-out rose bush in my yard had started to bloom.  I estimated their were eight blooms on it.  This week, I got to take a picture of it:

Way More Than 8!

3.  This week I continued the momentum of my exercise program and made it consistent for 3 weeks now.  For a non-athlete such as I, this is a good thing!  I do have to admit that I'm feeling better and having a little more energy.

4. Quote of the week:

“Jesus… said,” Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how He has had mercy on you.” … ~Mark 5:19

I'm struck by the phrase "to your own people."  Testifying to our friends and family is sometimes the hardest - but we're still called to do it!

5.  Anticipation:  I'm so looking forward to this weekend.  There will be a picnic on Saturday, worship on Sunday, and a mini road trip and grilling out on Monday.  Life is good!

And so another week on the Journey ends.  If you'd like to share your week, go to Susanne's blog, Living to Tell the Story, and link up!

  2. Consistent workout made my list too. Hurray to us!

What a beautiful time you all had at the Iris Farm. Bringing home bulbs to plant is a great souvenir.

Mark 5:19 is also a great reminder (to me) to keep current on the ways God has shown me mercy (also on my list this week).

  4. It is always so much fun to go on road trips! Sounds like y'all had a wonderful one. And those flowers are all so beautiful, as well as your roses! I love when roses bloom in spring. It's so nice to look outside and see them so bright and pretty.

Congratulations on keeping up with your exercise also! That's so great. You inspire me to start exercising regularly.

Your weekend ahead sounds so refreshing and fun, I hope you and your family have a blessed one :)

  5. I love visiting you on Fridays because your faves are always so cheerful and make me smile! that rose bush is WONDERFUL!!!! and yay for that road trip! I love irises. Ours are JUST beginning to bud. they should be open next week and if this NY rain ever stops they will look so pretty. Mine are a bluish-purple. I love them. They don't last long though.....good for you on the consistent workouts. I've been lagging this week but it's mainly because my evenings after work have been so hectic. I think i might set my alarm for 30 min earlier (which means 5:15) and that way i can at least get my pilates and hand weights in. You are an inspiration!! enjoy the weekend

  7. Oh that Iris farm must have been something to see in real life. The pictures are gorgeous so I can just imagine what it would have been like to be there.

Way to go on getting consistent with exercise. It really does make one feel better if we can stick to it.
