F.F.F.-05.17.13

Another beautiful week draws to a close, and it is time to reflect on the highlights of my days.

1.  On Saturday, the first person in our families to hold a Master's degree, our daughter, Elissa, graduated from SIU at Carbondale.  We are very proud of her, not only for her hard work in education, but also for her persistence and dedication to going after the things in life that she wants. Best of all?  She loves Jesus, which is the main thing I want for all my daughters.

2.  The next day was that favorite of all days, Mother's Day.  I remember the years before my children were born when I struggled with infertility.  Then, Mother's Day was something to be avoided at all costs.  But now, no matter what happens, each second Sunday in May, I can celebrate the three gifts God gave me, my daughters. This year we celebrated at Red Lobster.  We hadn't been there in a while and really enjoyed it.  It seems like all our friends had the same idea; it was like old home week in the lobby, greeting everyone.

Usually, I say that if you want to see old friends, just hang around Wal-Mart, you're bound to see someone you know!

3.  Maybe I should write about this next week, after 21 days of establishing a new habit, but I'm excited now.  I have re-done my daily schedule to fit in exercising before work each morning, and doing a lot of my work for my second job at home in the evenings in order to have more of my Saturdays free.  Today marks the second consecutive week that I've went by my schedule every day.  No excuses!  (I've never consistently exercised for two weeks straight in my life.)

4.  Today, my knock-out rose bush started blooming.  I didn't have time to count the flowers or take a photo but my estimate is that there are 8 roses.  I'm noticing roses blooming all around me in my part of the world.  Love the color!

5.  I'm looking forward to tomorrow... It will be a full day, starting with our first yard-saling trip of the season, then worship team practice, followed by a road trip with our friends, Glenda and Wayne.  It's sure to make the list of favorites on next week's Friday's Fave Five.

This ends another week on the Journey.  What about you?  Do you have 5 favorites from your week to share?  Join the fun at Susanne's blog, Living to Tell the Story.

  1. Congrats on being consistent with your exercising. HURRAY for you, Jerralea. I've never been consistent for 2 weeks straight either. Sounds like you've discovered a good schedule.

Also congrats to Liss for her Master's; that is quite an accomplishment. I love your "Best of ALL - She loves Jesus."

It's funny because I mentioned a grad and exercising in my fff post too :)

  3. Jerrelea,
I haven't been doing FFF for a while and I've missed seeing what's going on in your life! Congrats to your special graduate! Well done to Liss.
God bless you for stepping in to manage worship. I hear you...I love worship but I'd be at a loss in leading it. May God help you and send someone to fill your shoes!
It's that great time of year when yard sales start up again. Enjoy...

  5. Congratulations to Elissa!

Good for you for keeping with a new schedule! I need to do the same thing with regard to exercise. I was doing pretty well until I injured my back, and then just never got back into it.

My roses are taking off, too.

Glad you had a good Mother's Day!

  6. Congratulations to your daughter! Hard work rewarded.

And congrats to you on getting in that exercise and making a great change in your lifestyle. You're inspiring me to keep going with mine. I had such a great routine and habit going to the gym three times a week all last fall, then I injured my knee in January and had to take 2 months off and I've been struggling since to get in the habit again. You're an encouragement to keep going.

  8. Glad you had a good Mother's day! We were just at Red Lobster the other night on our trip. I love it.

Congratulations to your daughter!! What an incredible accomplishment!

Your comment about walmart made me laugh, haha, but that's so true. You really can't go there without seeing someone you know or knew in the past and it's like a reunion.

I hope you have a good road trip!

    God Bless You♥

  10. I know you understand--my daughter who has struggled for many years hates Mother's Day because it makes her so very sad. I imagine this makes you appreciate and love your daughters more for the special gift they was.
Congats to your Liss! And I agree--best is that she loves Jesus.
