Daybook-05.28.13

FOR TODAY, TUESDAY, MAY 28

Outside my window...
pretty and 75°

I am thinking...of 27 years ago, and the excitement and apprehension I felt:  I was about to become a mother for the first time.
I am thankful... for our daughter, Elissa, whose birthday is today. She has been a joy to parent.
In the kitchen... homemade pizza and ice cream birthday cake.
I am wearing...black dress and sandals, hot pink shrug
I am creating... plans for a home office
I am reading... Ace Collins' "Darkness Before Dawn"
I am hoping... to see some answers to prayer soon.
I am looking forward to...watching the flowers grow that my husband and I planted yesterday
Around the house... some dusting to be done ... and I still need to pack away winter clothes and find capris ...
A favorite quote for today...
God is in the business of turning rough coals into diamonds through pressure and stress  … seen on twitter

Back in the day, when we were in the Amway business, we used to talk about becoming a diamond sales associate and would listen to John Anderson sing, "I'm Just An Old Chunk of Coal, but I'm Gonna Be a Diamond Someday," at our sales rallies. The truth is  that is takes tons of pressure to turn coal into diamonds - and it takes a long time ...  May we submit to the pressure that comes our way so that - in time -  we may be gems that are pure reflectors of His beauty.

One of my favorite things...days off from work. I sure enjoyed yesterday!
A few plans for the rest of the week: a special business meeting tomorrow night, more yard sales Saturday, and a free Saturday afternoon!
A peek into my day...

Here is a photo of the birthday girl graduating with her Masters just a couple weeks ago.

  1. How nice you got to plant some flowers!! What kind did you plant? That makes me want to get out in the garden, too.

I hope your daughter had a wonderful birthday :)

And thankyou for sharing that quote- your words on that are so true and encouraging!

  2. I love it when the weather starts to warm. I finally got most of my vegetable garden in and most of my flower pots switched out from the poor, tired pansies. And happy birthday and congratulations to your daughter. She is lovely.

  3. I got my flowers in a couple weekends ago and now it's raining, raining, raining. They are begging for a little sunshine.

Happy birthday and congrats to your girl! You must be so proud!
