F.F.F.-03.08.13

1.  Hello! We are 13 days away from Spring! That fact makes me happy enough to call that my first favorite of the week.  It's not that I mind cool weather - I just yearn to see flowers and green and beautiful blue skies with white fluffy clouds.

If only we could keep the coziness of cool evenings with candlelight, something warm in our mugs and furry afghans along with sunny days and blossoming vegetation - why we'd have the best of both worlds.  Perhaps my part of heaven will be like that ...

2.  Speaking of heaven, I just want to say that I'm finishing up my study of 1 Peter 1 and it has been so rich and rewarding!  I have been taking the chapter verse by verse and really concentrating what it means, and what the original language meant, and what scholars think about it.  It's beautiful.  I'm so glad I have a living hope made real by the resurrection of Jesus.  If you don't believe in the resurrection ... then there is nothing to hope in. I find it fitting that this chapter is so ingrained in my heart just in time for Easter.

3.  Still dwelling on a spiritual level, I have been drinking in some really good words, available right here in the blogosphere.  I must share with you the link to Sheila Walsh's guest post on being a bummer-lamb at A Holy Experience:  click here.

I don't want to use up all my stock of great quotes (yes, I collect quotes) but I've been thinking on this, too:

J.I. Packer: "Adoption is the highest privilege that the Gospel offers."
… seen on twitter

Isn't it awesome that God adopts us into His family and we are joint-heirs with Christ?  What more could we want?

4.  Chocolate Chip Bars:  My daughter made some this week.  Chocolate always makes my favorite list - made even more pleasurable when made by someone else!

5. Candlelight and Curly Willow:  Although I'm enjoying candlelight, I like that the curly willow branches I rummaged from another floral arrangement is blooming.  I'm ready to see some new life around my world.

This ends another week on the Journey.  I hope you had a wonderful week filled with highlights, too.  Why not link up at Susanne's blog, Living to Tell the Story, and share?

  3. I am keenly aware that people like you in more northern climes are desperate to see some flowers and green leaves. That's why I've been posting lots of photos. Take heart. Soon, soon, you will be reveling in lilacs and pussy willows.
Love that quote from David Platt! I know that he also wrote a challenging book about foster/adopting children.

  4. Love that quote about adoption in to the family of God.

Spring is definitely a welcome thought. This year winter seemed to be so long for some reason.

I'm not a big baker at all so something baked made by someone else is always welcomed in my house!

  5. Adoption is a favorite word around our household these days... I got the word after this week's FFF was up that our son and daughter-in-law have been approved for India's Waiting Child program. We're excited!

Chocolate chip bars sound lovely! Hope spring comes to you quickly!
