1. The FFF group of bloggers are my favorite of every blogging community I've participated in. They are loyal and faithful commenters, and very upbeat and positive. The FFF crew always come and visit YOUR blog to comment. So, this week YOU are my first favorite.
2. Thankful for electricity. Yesterday afternoon, a mini ice storm hit our area. I left work at noon to get home before the roads became dangerous. I'm thankful to report that though the power did go out, it was only from 1 a.m. - 4:30 a.m. My heart always goes out to those who are without power for long periods of time when storms strike!
3. Working Ahead: I love times when not only am I caught up at work, but I'm actually working ahead. It makes me feel so efficient! It's also very useful when sickness or those pesky ice storms interrupt one's schedule.
4. My pastor has started preaching a series on prayer based on the book by Dick Eastman, "The Hour That Changes The World." I'm very excited about this series and I think it will revolutionize my prayer life like S.O.A.P. has done for my bible study. Eastman's premise is that you can spend 5 minutes on each of 12 steps of prayer and you will have spent an hour in prayer. I've found that you can get this book on Kindle. I was going to purchase it last night, but the internet was down.... but I will definitely get it this weekend. (By the way, I'll be getting this book for free since I'll be paying for it with my Swagbucks.)

ReplyDeleteI was glad our power didn't go out in the last storm too. Friends of ours were without it for 9 hours.
I've read Dick Eastman's book - it's great. I've never heard of S.O.A.P. though. I'm going to look it up online.

ReplyDeleteLosing the electricity is a blessing of sorts, realizing how we take things for granted. But, I'm always thankful when the lesson doesn't go on for too long.
I agree with number 1. I've only been doing FFF for a couple of weeks but I do enjoy the cameraderie between everyone. I also enjoy getting to know new friends.

ReplyDeleteI remember during hurricane Katrina we were without power for 7 days and it was rough. The roughest really was not being able to shower as you wished and not having air conditioning.
I love being ahead! I printed out 3 weeks ahead for the boys school. Now, on Saturday's I just put it all together.

I've missed your fives and meant to come by and visit your other posts, but time has gotten away from me once again. You'd commented earlier in the week about oyster sauce -- do try it. It's not nearly as "fishy" as it sounds and is a wonderful marinade to pork or chicken or seafood. I like it just by itself with some ground pepper.

I've heard that Dick Eastman book is really good! I think our Pastor might be starting a new series today and I'm looking forward to hearing what it will be. He just finished a really good series on the Greater Life.
