Thankful for Loving Parents

I'm thankful for parents who loved me.

Thankful that they stayed together through good times and bad.

I'm thankful for a dad who always told me he loved me. Little girls need to hear that!  He also believed in me and always thought I would do something special with my life.

He also always made me behave!

I'm thankful Mom always took us to church, even all those years she had to do it by herself. Our home was always clean and we had home-cooked meals every day.  I know there were lots of lonely times for her, because we lived far away from family, and dad was gone a lot.  She never seemed sad, though. She made our home seem like a haven.

In later years, Dad became a Christian and he made it a practice to read his bible.  Every. Single. Night. He made sure we knew he did so, too.  Another great example my parents set for us was that every day when Dad got home, he and mom took 15 minutes or so to set at the table, have coffee together, and catch up on each others day.

I know a lot of people were not raised in a two-parent home.  I'm so thankful that I was one of the blessed ones!

All during the month of November, I will be sharing my gratitude for all God has given me. I'm joining Joyful Reader on her Giving Thanks Challenge at her blog, Encouragement for Daily Bible Reading.

  1. Oh how sweet! This is a rare gem even in our day. My parents were divorced when I was young. I am at odds with my father right now and praying the Lord softens my heart because I can't do it without Him! (prayers much appreciated :) ) God bless your family!
