QUIET
When I was younger, I had a lot of trouble relating to people. Being shy, I often came across as stuck-up. In order to win approval from my peers, I decided to be the witty sarcastic person, often going for the laugh instead of considering the feelings of others.
My sweet hubby was the first one to call my attention to how my words often sounded. Never wanting to hurt anyone's feelings, I began to work on curbing my sarcastic spirit.
What is precious in God's sight is a gentle and quiet spirit.
1 Peter 3:3-5 (NKJV)
Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands,
A quiet spirit is one that is humble, not striving to have people notice or give approval. It's a spirit that is confident of who one is in Christ.
I want the hidden person of my heart to be beautiful because I know what is in the inside will sooner or later work it's way to the outside.
Lord, please help me to develop a kind and quiet spirit!

ReplyDeleteI am visiting from Lisa-Jo's and when I saw your photo I thought you looked like a quiet,serene lady. I think our Pappa God did a fine piece of work in helping you curb whatever was necessary. Yes, I have found that only as I allow our sweet Lord Jesus to live His life in and through me, can I experience that wonderful peace and quiet that I think every heart craves!

Quiet. If I had written on that prompt it probably would have had something to do with quieting my mind. But I agree completely with your take. So many times in life I can look back and think why did I open my BIG mouth? Why did I think my two cents were so important that I just had to share. Hopefully the Lord is working on me (and my tongue)too.
