FFF-11.30.12

Today is the last day of November.  I do not want to get out of the habit of showing gratitude for all the blessings in my life.  One way that helps me to recall my blessings is to participate in Friday's Fave Five every week.  It encourages me to stop on Friday and look back and reflect on my week so that I can share 5 highlights.  Even on challenging weeks, there are always highlights to be found.

1.  Sundays have now became a day when we eat out or get something to take home for a quick meal before our beloved tradition:  the Sunday afternoon nap.  This past Sunday, we went to Jim's favorite restaurant, Delmonico's, to partake of their fabulous buffet.  It was very tasty!

2.  I was gifted with MyMemories Suite, version 4, for creating digital scrapbooks, greeting cards and more.  This week, I've created four album pages which I will be sharing soon, along with a giveaway opportunity where YOU can also win the software.  Keep watching!

3.  Posting daily:  Today is my last day of posting with the Giving Thanks challenge.  Along with my recent series in October, 31 Days of Encouragement, I have now posted for two solid months.  Therefore, it has become second nature to write everyday.  I want to keep the ball rolling, so in December, I'll be sharing a new series, Because Jesus Came.  We'll be examining some scriptures that show what the advent has brought into our lives.  I hope you can join me.  If you haven't already, why not consider subscribing to my blog?  My posts will come automatically to your email inbox each morning.  You can subscribe in the top box on the right hand side of my blog home page. I don't want you to miss a thing!

4.  I have had a wonderful time the last few days reading Susan May Warren's book, "You Don't Know Me."  I could hardly put it down! I love it when a book engages me so thoroughly.

5.  Quote of the week:

It is not that we do not believe the Lord wants the best for us. It is that we wonder how painful the best will be. #CSLewis …twitter

I had to share this quote in honor of CS Lewis' 114th birthday on November 28.

Bonus:  I read Missy's post, "God thinks you rock the casbah" recently and I had to mention how uplifting I thought it was. I was really touched and smiled all day just thinking about it.

The internet ... it is a wonderful thing!  Where else could I find out all the interesting things I come across?

Thus ends another week on the Journey.  If you'd like to share your five highlights, link up at Susanne's blog, Living to Tell the Story.

  1. We've revised our Sunday dinners to something quick and easy rather than the big meals I used to have since we've moved -- we get out later at our church now and have a longer drive, and we must get that Sun. afternoon nap or we (or at least I) won't be good for much of anything Sun. evening.

I haven't done anything with digital scrapbooking. It would be interesting to see what it is like.

  2. Oh, I so need my Sunday nap too. Sunday is my busiest day of the week. Without my nap, I am no good on Monday.

I look forward to seeing what you create with your new software. Sounds like it really spurred you on to create. I haven't ever done digital scrapping. And I am decades behind on my paper scrapping.

Congrats on posting daily for 2 months. That takes a great deal of discipline. It will be cool to read your new series.

I enjoyed posting everyday for a month and was pleased that I was able to do so. But I won't continue as it took a time commitment I don't want to keep on making. ;)

Love the CS Lewis quote. Too many times I don't trust God and think I won't be able to handle what He asks of me.

    Have a great week, Jerralea.

  3. I love Sundays too but not because I nap. (I am NOT a napper!). It's because I really try to make it a Sabbath and just rest, relax and recharge/refresh my soul. I love it!! It sounds like you had some very nice blessings this past week!!! and YES...in response to your comment after my post: I AM almost always busy but...it's just for a season. Soon, my youngest, in just 4 more years, will be off to college and my oldest will be done with college. ANd then i'll probably be bored! LOL

  4. I always had it in my head to do these big Sunday meals that were ready fairly soon after we got home from church. Can we say stressful? Lately I've just let myself off the hook by having good snacky food to tide us over and then we'll eat later. Hubby likes his Sunday nap but I like to read or watch a movie.

  5. You are so right that gratitude is a good habit to maintain. I do love these five faves. I like the theme of your new December series. And that quote is wonderful. I'm sorry to have missed CSL's birthday!

  6. I love my Sunday naps!! We used to do Sunday meals at grandma's but that, long ago, fazed out. I suppose I could start the tradition back up at MY house but I hate to cook :)

    Love the quote!!

  7. I love a good book that I can't put down, its such a great escape :) I saw your post below about sweet tea- I love it too. In California they won't serve it in those styrofoam cups anymore and I'm kind of disappointed. That really helped to keep it cold.

  8. What a great CS Lewis quote. Never met a CS Lewis quote I didn't like...

Kudos to you for posting every day of November. And you're continuing? Awesome! (she said, green with envy!)

    Have a great week ahead.
