Day 30 - Be Welcomed As Faithful

I'm excited about my heavenly home.  I do like to think of the beauty that will surround me there.  I don't know if we each will have our own mansion or if we will each have a room in God's house - I just know whatever there is will be so much more than what I have now.

Beyond that, I'm longing to see my loved ones who have trusted in Christ and went on before me. I dream of reuniting with them and how it will be to finally see them again.

However, the thing I long for above all else is to see Jesus and to hear Him say, "Welcome home - you've been faithful and used the talents I have given you."

Matthew 25 tells of the kingdom of heaven being compared to servants who had each been given resources to match their abilities.  When their master came back from his travels, he asked each one to give an account of what he had accomplished.  Those that had doubled their resources were commended.

Matthew 25:21 (NKJV)

His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

He didn't expect the same out of each one, but he did expect each to do something.

The one that did not use his talents and abilities was the one who had everything taken away from him and he was cast out.

I don't want that to happen to me!

I am one who loves to please others, but sometimes, it just can't be done in this world.  More than anything I want to please my Lord. If He is pleased with me on that day when I finally behold Him face to face, then I will have the greatest joy possible.

Friend, don't be apathetic or lazy while going through this life. You're here such a short time.  Use your time well.  Make use of the gifts He has given you.  Don't squander your all on things that won't endure the test of time.

I think Erma Bombeck got the point of the Parable of the talents when she said:

“When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me.”
Erma Bombeck

Use everything He gave you, my friend.  It will be so worth it.

  2. I want to use everything He has given me! I know I need a lot of work in this... especially when it comes to ministry outside of my home.
    Thank you :)
