Seriously, I rarely get angry. There are some things I am passionate about, other things that merely annoy me. I'm going to split my annoyances and my indignations into two groups. First, I'll discuss the ones that cause me to be righteously indignant. (Remember, I'm just discussing feelings here - not solutions... Okay, I have to be true to myself and say what I always believe - the answer to any of these problems is getting into right relationship with Jesus Christ.)
1. Abortion - I don't want to stir up a big controversy, but I'm sorry, I believe abortion is wrong. I've heard all that's been said about a woman's right to choose. Please choose abstinence. Please choose adoption. Please choose not to murder an innocent unborn child. Yes, a pregnancy might mess up your dreams and plans. Please don't mess up the dreams and plans God has for your unborn child. Enough said.
2. Abuse - When a person abuses someone, whether physically, mentally, verbally or sexually, it makes my blood boil. I want to go all Old Testament and demand an eye for an eye.
3. Politicians who bring dishonor to our country: Once, being a politician, or a statesmen, was an honorable profession. A statesman was a public servant, trusted to do the right things for our citizens. Many have made a mockery of this calling. Instead of being an instrument of bringing justice and prosperity to the land, shame and dishonor follow the name of many of our lawmakers. Please understand, there are some who really want to do the right thing, and I give them credit for that. But those who are involved in corruption and sex scandals make my blood boil (again). Really? You are going to take the taxpayer's money and waste it in riotous living? Remember, the law of sowing and reaping.

4. Injustice toward Christianity: Our country was based on freedom OF religion. You are free to believe whatever you choose. So am I. Just as it would be wrong for me to limit or ridicule other peoples' religious views, it is wrong to limit or ridicule Christianity. It seems to me the media should remember this. If the media belittled other religions and religious leaders like they do Christians, the world would be up in arms.
5. Hurting my kids: Like all true parents, I am in attack mode if I feel someone has harmed my children. I still have one incident from the past I have to pray for peace where I felt a person was wrong and hurt my child.

Next, those things that annoy me:
6. Backbiting (or gossip) It's wrong to tell stories. Stop it.
7. Causing discord in the church or the home. This is a big no-no.
16 There are six things the Lord hates,Proverbs 6:16-19 (NIV)
seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
8. Laziness - I cannot abide laziness, in myself or others. (It's listed as one of the deadly sins.) Joyce Meyer used to say don't worry about doing ministry if you can't get the victory over a sink full of dirty dishes.
9. Waste of Potential: It goes hand-in-hand with laziness. If you are a lazy person, you will never reach your full potential. God has a purpose and plan for each life. Don't get to the end of yours and find that you accomplished nothing with the gift you've been given.
10. You may feel that I've been hard and judgmental with my list of annoyances; but believe me, I am most angry with myself when I mess up. I am very human and prone to messing up at anytime. My goal is perfection and I fall far short.
It's awesome that God is willing to forgive me any time I seek forgiveness. I need to extend the same mercy to myself.
There you have it, the things wrong with the world according to Jerralea. In spite of all these annoyances, I still say life is beautiful and a gift and worthy of each of us giving our best effort.

A well written list of 10 things that should make most of us angry...well, at least frustrated enough to cause us to act.
ReplyDeleteThings that cause us to think, thank you.
I love this! #4 gets me the most. I don't mind other people believing what they want, even if it doesn't agree with my values, but please don't bash me or anyone else if they don't see your eye to eye! I love following other Christians on blogs. I'm here via Mama Kat's I am a new follower of your blog I hope you can follow in return =) (http://takeitlikeamommy.blogspot.com/)
ReplyDeleteGOD BLESS!!
This is quite the list! It kind of makes me want to get angry. Just kidding. Really, though...good items. I am with you on what you said at the very last. I'm trying to extend the same kind of mercy to myself that God does.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being so confident in sharing your beliefs...what a blessing!
ReplyDeleteInteresting list of things that make you angry.
ReplyDelete#7....clearly I am supposed to spend more time reflecting on this one. This was the topic of my pastor's sermon two weeks ago. I made notes while he spoke, but then I set them aside when I got home. Seeing these verses repeated here reminds me that I should pull those notes out and spend some quiet time with the verses. Thanks
