Daybook-07.16.12

FOR TODAY, MONDAY, JULY 16

Outside my window...
bright sunshine and heat

I am thinking...of how much I love summer foods, summer clothes, the beauty of the trees, grasses and flowers, but the heat?  Not so much.

I am thankful... for friends who share their produce with me!

In the kitchen
... chicken and dressing casserole tonight, ham and potato salad tomorrow, ham and beans later on in the week.

I am wearing... black, white and hot pink dress with a hot pink shrug

I am going... to Walmart after work AGAIN.  (I should just have my check mailed there ...)

I am reading..."Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy: A Righteous Gentile vs. the Third Reich" by Eric Metaxas.  I've always been interested in Bonhoeffer's theology so I wanted to get this book. It is a mammoth read, over 600 pages, so I'll be reading it for awhile.

I am looking forward to... vacation! Two more weeks ...

A favorite quote for today...

Our Savior was worth the wait. His plan for your life is worth the wait. Be patient today, and wire yourself to wait on Him.

God is never late and never early. He's always right on time.

Makes me think of that song by Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, "He's An On-Time God."

One of my favorite things...having my nails done.

A few plans for the rest of the week
: board meeting, cookout with the church family next Saturday.

A peek into my day...

Summertime bounty!

  2. Love fresh food also though the garden did not do well this year. I understand about Walmart all too well.

Thank you for your visit. Glad that you popped by...make it a habit, won't you? Sort of like stopping by Wal*Mart. I think I practically live there myself.

I found your post very interesting. I have always been interested in Bonhoeffer, though I've not put it to the test by reading 600 pages of text.

  7. I've seen other posts using the day book, and I always enjoy them. I keep planning to do one too. I laughed in complete agreement at what you said about Walmart.

I would love to read the Bonhoeffer biography. He is an inspiration to me.

And the quote from DJ? Amen!!
