Friday's Fave Five - 06.22.12

Happy blessed Friday all! Another week has come and gone, leaving in its wake joy and blessings.  On Fridays, I always enjoy looking back on my week and counting the highlights.

1. This week's favorite post to write:  Directed Paths. This was a post I wrote in community last Friday with the 5 Minute Friday bloggers who link up at Lisa-Jo Baker - Tales From AGypsy Mama. It's kind of amazing looking back at the path of your life, where you are on your journey today, and wondering what the bend in the road brings in the future.

2.  Last weekend was Father's Day weekend, so our favorite meal of the week was spent at Jim's favorite place, Delmonico's.  Or was it?  Because we got a new gas grill this week, also, and Jim tried out his cooking skills.  We used it twice with great success and we're planning another meal this week. Love this time of year!

3.  A simple pleasure this week was experienced yesterday while I was slicing up a new bag of lemons.  I love to cut up lemons into wedges and freeze them for use in all the glasses of sweet tea and water that I drink.  The smell of fresh-cut lemons is so inviting.  A small thing, but something to savor none-the-less.

4.  Mentioning a small joy puts me in mind of Ann Voskamp's 1000 Gifts.  I am excited to say that I passed the 1000 mark on daily counting the small gifts that God plops in my life. I do think it makes a difference to daily recount the gifts God gives.  I keep a small journal by my bedside and every night before I turn out the light, I scribble 3 or 4 things that I enjoyed that day.  It does really help to build an attitude of gratitude.  I'm on my way to 2000 ...

5. I've also been experimenting with smoothies.  This week, we tried one that had pineapple juice, cream of coconut and strawberries.  Yum, Yum!

No new photos this week, but thought I would share a road picture from the past - a road down the mountain (Wichita Mountain) from our trip to Oklahoma, November 2010.

Mmm, the fresh lemons do smell so sweet.
Your smoothie has now made me hungry for one!

I own Ann's book and plan to read it this summer--the little journal sounds like a great idea.

I love it when my husband grills! Congrats on breaking 1000. That book was an eye opener for me, too. Have a great week.

Freezing lemon wedges? Brilliant! I'm with you on home-made smoothies -- so many fun combinations. One of my favorites is blueberry, yogurt, and coconut milk sweetened to taste. Hope you have yummy adventures with that grill.

Aren't you a smart cookie freezing lemon wedges.

I really like the idea of keeping a journal by your bed and writing down your blessings each night.

I should probably reflect AND write daily, but I save it for FFF posts, though occasionally a blessing is more private, but typically I just share!
