Fall Hodgepodge

1. What do you do at the first sign of a cold? Will you get a flu shot this year? At the first sign of a cold, I like to use Alka Seltzer's Cold Formula in Citrus flavor.  This year, I've also added taking a daily Zyrtec to my morning routine.  I think that I have more allergy problems than colds.

No, I will not be getting a flu shot.  I never do.  I feel that most of the time the flu shot they give you would not be able to fight the strain of flu virus going around.  Plus, I don't like the idea of putting flu virus in my body on purpose!

2. What advice can you give about how to conquer fear? Whenever I am afraid, I go to God's Word to remind myself that my life is in His hands.  He will help me through anything that comes my way.  I love to read Psalms 91 when feeling fearful, and also this verse especially comforts me:

"God hath not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind."  2 Timothy 1:7

If I'm afraid, it's because satan is trying to make me afraid, it's not God doing it!

3. Share two good things about your life right now. It's hard to just pick two!  I'd have to say that right now I am most excited that our house remodel is done!  Also, another good thing is that recently we have had some awesome worship services at church.  I always feel great after one of those!

4. A hot fall fashion trend in 2011 is a return to sixties style...tunics with pants, shift dresses, pencil skirts, cinched waists, bold prints, high necklines and short lengths to name a few. How does this fashion trend fit with your wardrobe and personal sense of style?
I won't be wearing short lengths, that's for sure.  The idea of higher necklines is nice, because I'm so tired of having to wear camis under everything!  The blouses nowadays are so low-cut.  The shift dress might be a good style for me ...

5. Were you involved in scouting as a kid? How about as an adult?
Yes, I was a brownie and a girl scout until about the 6th grade.  My girls were girl scouts for a little while, but as I believe someone, I think it was Karen from Karen's Korner, said, scouting requires a big time commitment from the girl AND her parent!  Also, we suck at cookie sales .... just sayin'

6. Apple, pear, plum, pumpkin...your favorite fall flavor? Love them all, but my family does not like pumpkin, so I have to get my fix elsewhere.  I totally love pumpkin roll with the cream cheese filling.

7. What characteristics do you think are essential in a good teacher?
You have to have a heart for kids!  Also, you have to be a hard worker and organized.  My daughter is a high school math teacher, and believe me, it's no picnic!

8. Insert your own random thought here.I love this time of year!  What is it about cooler weather that just makes me feel more energetic?

  6. I have heard that scouting is quite the commitment, so I am not really all that sad that my girls are not interested in joining. Ha!

  7. I've got to admit, it's the parental involvement part that exhausts me with scouting - boy scouts, girl scouts, all of it... oy! But I whole heartedly agree that the shirts today are all WAY too low cut... and if you don't have the "gifts" to pull that off, then camis are the way to go, and I'm tired of doing double laundry just to look modest and fashionable! Good grief!
