Friday's Fave Five - December 11, 2009

Yeah!  It's Friday!  Time to hook up with all my friends at Friday's Fave Five.  I have not been able to participate the last few weeks, so I'm glad to get back into the groove.  FFF is totally at the top of my favorite memes!

1.  Recently, I celebrated 5 years as secretary of the church where I work full-time. Here are a couple pictures of the beautiful flowers I received.

2.  My second favorite is now I am eligible for 3 weeks paid vacation.  Gotta love those benefits!

3.  So, I promptly took a week off!  My plan was to do my Christmas letter, put up the tree and buy all the Christmas presents ... well ... the Christmas letter is done ... SOME of the presents are bought ... the tree is supposed to go up today ...

4.  The area where I live has been getting some of that cold Arctic air that's been tormenting parts of the midwest.  When I'm cold, I like to snuggle up with my favorite fleece throw.  It is blue and has bears on it.  Best of all, my sister-in-law made it for me.

5.  Another thing I love to do when it's cold is to light tons of candles.  You can actually raise the temperature of a room if you light several.  Right now, I'm loving a cinnamon pillar candle I got from Hobby Lobby.

What are some of YOUR recent favorites?  Why not link up at Susanne's Living to Tell the Story and tell us all about it?

  3. Congratulations on 5 years! That is wonderful! I love it when I've found a job, or know of someone else, who stays at a place that long. Even on the bad days, it means that you love it! That's worth some flowers. =)

    Merry Christmas to you!

  7. Great list, Jerri:) I haven't been over in a while and I see you have a new haircut! I really like it. I keep going shorter and shorter with mine, it's so much easier.

    Congratulations on your 5 years!

Candles sure warm up a room in lots of ways. My favorite this year is a balsam cedar scent from Yankee.

  8. I LOVE candles in the winter time too! Even if they don't raise the temperature (we have the leakiest windows on the planet) they still make me FEEL warm with their glow!

Congratulations on those first 5 years! May you have several more anniversaries there! Those are GREAT benefits! I wonder if OUR church secretary gets those kinds of benefits.... hmmmm.... YOU are blessed! Enjoy the rest of your week off! (not much left to it now...)

  12. Congratulations on five years and yay for paid vacations. I agree about lighting tons of candles to keep a room warm. I stood for like 10 minutes near the rack of lighted candles at York Minster. Other tourists must have thought I was just fascinated by the lights as I must have looked like it but I was actually warming myself lol! Stay warm and have a great weekend.
