It's time to reflect on my week and find 5 favorites. Some weeks are easier to find the favorites than others, but they're always there - you just have to look for them!
1. I may have mentioned on my blog before my excessive love of dishes. This week I added a few more to my collection. Kroger was carrying some great fall dishes. I debated for a few weeks then decided to buy the burnt orange plates and the fall goblets. Well, remember the quotation, "He who hesitates is lost"? The goblets were gone when I went back, but the plates were still there. I have some fall placemats with pumpkins on them. The plates look awesome with them. (Sorry, I didn't get a photo of them yet.)
2. My friend, Marti, is a multi-talented woman. She is our church librarian, a quilter, a great cook, and a gardener extraordinaire. She shared the fruits of her labor with me and brought me a jar of some awesome-tasting apple butter. Apple butter holds fond memories for me, because while we were dating, my hubby and I shared many an apple butter sandwich sitting at my granny's table after a date. (I lived with my granny.)
3. Double-stuff oreos. Need I say more?
4. I'm reading a new-to-me author, Deborah Raney. I just finished "Remember to Forget" and "Leaving November." I enjoyed them very much.
5. Favorite quote of the week:
"Anything made with love, bam! ~ it's a beautiful meal." Emeril Lagasse
May all your meals be served with love!
Apple butter remind me of my grandma!
ReplyDeleteMy DD and i make it in the fall. I still have several jars we put up last fall in the pantry.
Apple butter on a warm toasted buttered english muffin, with a hot cup of tea in the afternoon there is nothing better.
Have a great weekend.

I really like Deborah Rainey! Her story of the woman who got alzheimer's early in life was so touching. Which reminds me I should put the next one on hold at the library. :v)
ReplyDeleteI love dishes too, but haven't really given in to all I want to purchase. I would love some fall placemats though!
Apple butter. Yummy!
'He who hesitates is lost' I'm so glad to read that because I tend to procrastinate. Good books always make a week just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a love for dishes, but I almost bought some this week because they were so inviting.
ReplyDeleteDouble-stuff oreos - definitely a favorite for me, too!
The quote from Emeril is great. Made me smile. Have a great weekend.
Oh. Oh. I am so with you on those double-stuffed oreos! Oh yes!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm glad I'm not alone in my dishes fettish either. ;D YAY for fun fall dishes!
Apple butter sandwich sounds wonderful. I haven't had apple butter in so long. Love the quote and the double-stuff oreos...mmmm Excellent FFF. Have a wonderful weekend :)

Great five! I love your apple butter story! So sweet!
ReplyDeleteI love dishes too! There are so many sets that I'd love to get, but for now I have 3 sets. Capuccino Pfalzgraff, a set of Gibson white dishes and of course my hubby's favorite dishes....Paper! haha!
Thanks for visiting my blog!
Mm... apple butter. My mom always served it with cottage cheese. Some people think that's an odd combination, but I grew up loving it and have converted my husband, too.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Oreos? Just their mention is tempting me to make a run to the grocery store!
Hi Jerri! Ahh the old he who hesitates misses dishes...or goblets :0)
ReplyDeleteLove the Emeril quote and isn't it the truth!! Blessings...
Ok....I love everything you have listed...except for the books since I have never read them...will have to check them out....
ReplyDeleteDouble stuff Oreos. Mmmm, love them! I lost a set of Blue Willow dishes at the thrift store because I hesitated.
ReplyDeleteIt is great to stop and look back to see the things we are blessed with, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see a photo of those dishes! Sounds like a perfect fall place setting.
Don't think I've read Deborah Rainey.....I'll have to be on the look out for some of her books. A good book is always on my to-do list!
Bless you this week, Jeri!
I've never heard of apple butter before, so I would not know how it tastes, but if it's a childhood memory from your life with your grandmother, it MUST be delicious!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a little jealous, your new dishes must be awesome. I never can resist this either!
sorry you missed out on the goblets but sure the plates will look super attractive for fall
ReplyDeleteGreat list. Thanks for the "multi-faceted" comment. Why haven't I thought of that!! I love that and will use that in the future. It sounds like a "cut diamond" and since I am God's workmanship (Eph. 2:10) created in Christ Jesus to walk in the good works He has prepared for me, that term is much more accurate!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, fellow sojourner for the Lord. As we walk this "pilgrim's path" it is wonderful to meet other like-minded women!
