I wanted to share my family's favorite chocolate cake recipe, Texas Sheet Cake, a moist chocolaty dessert with a fudgy topping. Ecstasy!
Texas Sheet Cake
2 sticks butter
4 Tbsp. cocoa
1 C water
Combine in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Take off stove and cool slightly.
Sift together:
2 C flour
2 C sugar
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. baking soda
Pour cocoa mixture into flour mixture and mix well.
In a separate bowl,
2 eggs
1 - 8 oz. carton of sour cream
Beat eggs. Add sour cream to the eggs and mix well. Add sour cream mixture to the cocoa mixture.
Bake in jelly roll pan at 350° for approximately 30 minutes.
Icing:
1 stick butter
6 tbsp. milk
1/4 C cocoa
Combine in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Take off stove and let cool slightly. Stir in 3 C powdered sugar, sifted, and 1 tsp. vanilla. Optional: add 1 C nuts. Spread over cake while still warm.

ReplyDelete...I've made that recipe and it was OH SOOOOOOO GOOD!!! I've forgotten about that recipe, must be time to get it out again - but I need a reason to make a sweet....hmmm, we could celebrate that you reminded me of that recipe!! That's a good reason!
