Another week has rolled around and once again, it's Friday! I love Fridays ...
It's time for Friday's Fave Five, a time to reflect on my week and pick out 5 highlights. I love this meme because it focuses on positive things!
1. My first fave is not something I actually bought this week, but I thought about it -- that counts doesn't it? The picture belows shows a platter I picked up at a yard sale during my staycation for 25¢. It has 22K gold around the edges. I bought this because the gold pattern around the edges matches some dishes I bought at an auction the first year we got married. Those dishes are packed away right now, so I'll share a picture of them another day.
2. Next, I thought I would show you a picture of my Gerbera Daisy. This Daisy was given to me for Administrative Professionals Day and I shared a picture with you on that week's FFF. Now, see how it has grown? I haven't killed it!
3. The third item for this week is a picture of a beautiful mimosa tree (or at least I think it's a mimosa) that I passed by riding my bike this week. I had to take this picture at dusk because it is way too hot to ride bikes until then. (Where is my beloved spring weather?) We are having a mean streak of 95° days here in the midwest.
4. Speaking of hot weather, I must mention my favorite summertime drink, Tea-ade. That's my little name for a concoction of lemonade and sweet tea. I keep a picture of both in my fridge. When I get thirsty, I fill a glass about 1/3 of the way with lemonade and then pour in sweet tea to fill it to the top. Ahh... so good!
5. Last night, we had an old-fashioned summer dinner: ham and beans, cornbread, cucumbers, macaroni and tomatoes, and fried squash. Oh, my! Talk about good. There's nothing better than summer produce! I cooked it like Granny used to do. The only thing, if she'd been here, she would have added a "mess of greens" to the menu.

Hi Jerri! Sounds like a great week. The Mimosa is so pretty and that platter was a steal for 25 cents :0)
ReplyDeleteAre there any leftovers cuz you are making me hungry!
That platter is beautiful and so are the daisies.
ReplyDeleteSo that's how a mimosa tree look like...
I miss cornbread! I used to have that every Friday afternoon, warm and fresh from the baker's oven. Yum!
Have a great weekend!
# 1 I love $.25 buys! The platter is so pretty. Good for you.
ReplyDelete# 5 My grandmother would have added a “mess of greens”, too. You made me smile thinking about her. Blessings!
What a neat find in that platter! That daisy is just gorgeous. So is the mimosa -- there used to be one behind a former neighbor's house.
ReplyDeleteThe platter is really beautiful and what a bargain! My former co-workers knew that I was hopeless with plants, so for Administrative Professionals Day one year, they bought me a candy bouquet instead!
ReplyDeleteThe platter is something I would have bought, too! It reminds me of my Grandma.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tree!
your drink/food sound like summer to me.
Have a great weekend!
Some of my favorites too. Mimosa, gerbera daisies, tea-ade. Yea for all!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou and me both...there's nothing better than fresh produce from your garden. Way to go on your find.
ReplyDeleteI never seem to be at the right places. The Gerber is beautiful.
It brings so much life and sunshine.
Our weather has been 60 degrees. I wore my headband walking this morning.
Great 5 and I love to have lemonade and sweet tea too!
ReplyDeleteCan I come over for dinner? I'll bring the mess of greens.
ReplyDeleteThe gerbera daisy looks so pretty. I love them, they look so perky.
Have a good weekend!
I love gerbera daisies! So pretty and yours look like they are doing great! We don't have mimosa trees around here that I'm aware of but they look stunning. And thanks for the reminder to take my camera on our bike ride this morning. I'm always forgetting. ;v)
ReplyDeleteYour tea-ade sounds lovely. Do you make your sweet tea from scratch?
Ha ha ha - I'm drinking "tea-ade" as I type! Sounds like you had a great week - how did you get your gerbera daisies to grow? I always seem to kill them... in pots and in the ground... Any secrets?
ReplyDeleteMacaroni and tomatoes makes my mouth water! I have not had any of those in years!
ReplyDeleteWith that beautiful dish you picked up for .25, you should link that up to our weekend wonders post that we always post on Mondays.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I have added you to my blog reader!
