The Simple Woman's Daybook - April 13, 2009

FOR TODAY, APRIL 13th EDITION...
Outside my window...
a dreary rainy day, but I know it is necessary for beauty later on. After all, April showers bring May flowers!
I am thinking...
that chocolate chip cookies are a blessing on dreary mornings ...
I am thankful for...
the Easter season we are in. I don't know why God loves us so much, but I'm sooo glad He does!
From the kitchen...
I need inspiration!
I am wearing...
Black pinstripe pants, dark teal blouse, black beads.
I am creating...
a restful haven for a home.
I am going...
straight home after work.
I am reading...
"Cry In the Night" by Colleen Coble. It's a real page-turner!
I am hoping...
to summon up some motivation for some things that positively need to be done!
I am hearing...
the hum of appliances.
Around the house...
supplies for our bathroom remodel are laying in the living room!
One of my favorite things...
a clean orderly home!
A few plans for the rest of the week:
the ladies of our church are going on a shopping trip. I need to get my work done so that I can go with them.
Here is picture thought I am sharing...
My three chicks in their Easter finery!

  1. Hi Jerri,
    Thanks for coming by.
    Pilau is a Minorcan dish.
These people settled in our area and came from an island off the cost of Italy.
    My husband is half Minorcan.
    The dish is pernounced per-low.
It is a sausage and rice dish with a can of crushed tomato and the secret ingredient is datil peppers.
It takes about 3 1/2 hours to cook, but it is done in a dutch oven, cooking it on the stove and in the oven.
It is so delicious, I wish I coud share some with you.
I hope you find inspiration in your kitchen, I completely understand.
The picture of your girls is beautiful.
    Have a blessed week!

  4. Hello, Jerralea,
Mmmm...I think chocolate chip cookies sound perfect for ANY kind of morning!
Yesterday morning, I sat in church thinking how God is sooo good to me and I wished I felt more deserving of His blessings. The Easter season always helps me re-prioritize my goals and puts Him in the forefront (where He belongs!).
Such smiling, beautiful daughters you have! Happy Easter.
