Challenge Accepted: Finish the Journey

It's Friday, again! The day I join a group of writers. the Five Minute Friday crew, as we wrestle writing for 5 minutes on a one word prompt. Today's word? "Challenge."

GO

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to finish your journey, arriving at your destination, your forever Home.

Make no mistake - this journey will take every ounce of strength and concentration you have, for you have an enemy that is determined to trip you up and make you cease your efforts.

Don't be afraid, though, because you have two aids that will more than adequately equip and protect you on this journey.

First, you have your manual, your atlas or your map - whatever you choose to call it. It is the Holy Writ, a love letter to you full of instruction and life-giving words. With this Word, you can fight the enemy just like Jesus did, defeating him every time.

But more importantly, you have your Guide with you. He has promised to never leave you nor forsake you. So He is by your side, even when you may not see or feel Him.

He requires from you, faith. Faith that He is with you. Faith that the destination is real and worth all the struggle.

[5 minutes are up, but I must go on!]

A word of caution, be prepared for thoughts to attack you because this journey's real battlefield is of the mind. You must take captive every thought of quitting or turning back - and there will be many such thoughts.

Instead, fix your thoughts on every good, true and noble, for you shall surely find your Lord in that kind of thinking.

Stay strong, my sister! Accept the challenge and press on, no matter the cost. Never, never, never give up!

I'll see you at Home.

  1. I'm your neighbor on fmf today. I really needed this encouragement. I just got out of a relationship that was going to take me out. It's been very hard to make sense of things, but I'm grateful Jesus never leaves or forsakes me even when I'm stubborn and confused.Thank you for the reminder.

  9. Yes, indeed, life is a challenge and our mind is a battlefield. So thankful the God gives us His holy Word for guidance and the Holy Spirit for wisdom and counsel. Through Him, we can do all things!

  10. This is the most important journey of our lives--how we need to be prepared, and how glad I am God gave us His precious Word and Holy Spirit to lead us on the way.

  11. I love the imagery! I don't know where people get the idea that being a Christian is supposed to be easy--after all, Jesus promised that we'd have trouble (but that he'd be with us).

  12. I love that you are part of the FMF community. It is one of my favorites even though I have not written with them in several years. I love your challenge. When you spoke of us having the Guide with us it made me think of some words in Romans 8 that refers to the Holy Spirit. Great post.
