The Morning Page - Begin Again II

Driving into work today, I was mulling over what my next post would be ...

Heavy on my heart was a relationship close to me that was breaking apart. I thought of how different life would be for this person who had such hopes and dreams for a certain kind of life.

Truth is, none of us know when life will change; whether it be accidents, illness, job changes or a person not living up to a commitment, at any moment we might have to adjust to a new normal.

Conversely, a new dream or opportunity might present itself necessitating change ...

As I was praying about the situation, I felt like the Lord was saying "begin again."

Sometimes, we all have to start over... maybe even for the dozenth time. Yes, life can mess us up but we can finish strong. Learn from the past and go on.

Then I thought, "Begin Again?" Where have I heard that before? When you've blogged as long as I have, you often find you've already addressed a topic, and sure enough I had already written about beginning again.

Today, I revamped a piece from three years ago, because I just had a new beginning:

Today, I did something I like to do.  I ripped off the old calendar page and began filling in the clean white spaces of of a new month. I love new calendar pages - it feels like a new beginning.

Sometimes, life begins again on a day that is not the start of a month. Life can change in an instant and you have a new normal to face.

Often, the new beginning is a happy event such as when a couple join together in matrimony creating a new family unit. Life is not the same because you "leave and cleave" to your new spouse.

I experienced a new beginning three Junes ago when I became a grandmother for the first time. My focus instantly changed to those new precious babies that entered our family. I'm all about "what can I do to make a difference in these babies' lives? How can I show them I love them?"

Another new beginning: Today, we are celebrating the fact that Rory (grandbaby #3) joined our family on Saturday and we have a new opportunity to continue the spoiling -- I mean loving!)

Getting born is hard work!

Once in a while tragedy strikes and you begin life again in a different vein. A cousin of mine began a new chapter of her life without her precious spouse when he passed suddenly. In 1999, my husband and I had to begin again when the doctor told us Jim's working days were over.

Begin again. You never know when you will have to start over.  The great thing is there is One who will walk with you every step of your journey. He said His mercies will be fresh each morning.*

I have an idea He said that because He knew some of us face new mornings with new beginnings.
