What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do - Part 3

Welcome back! Today, we are covering Part 3 of my message, "What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do." You can read part 1, Get Your Eyes on Him, and part 2, Get Peace in Your Heart, by clicking on the links.

I used to work with a Youth Pastor who would lament, "If only God would send me a fax each day telling me what to do, life would be much simpler."

He would show up every morning with a hopeful look on his face, "Has my fax came through yet?"

Sorry, no, it doesn't work that way. He wants you to trust and wait on Him!
After making sure your focus is on Him and that there is nothing between you, the next thing to do is:

Step 3.     Get Your Praise On
Let’s go back to our first example – Jehoshaphat.
 2 Chronicles 20:21-22
21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:“Praise the Lord, For His mercy endures forever.”22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.
Before every battle, praise. God inhabits the praise of His people. When you are praising, you are making room for Him to manifest His presence.
Also, you can’t speak words of doubt whenever you are praising in faith!
The song saying Praise the Lord for His mercy endures forever in verse 21 is the same song the children of Israel sang when they transported the ark to Jerusalem and also at the temple dedication.
Can't you picture it? Before the army, the choir marches out first, praising God and singing! What an unexpected battle plan! I'm sure the enemy was puzzled.
My HCSB Study bible says that the MOMENT they began singing and praising the Lord set ambushments against their enemies.
What if at the MOMENT you start praising, your answer is released and on its way?
He is worthy of all praise, honor and glory. When you don't know what to do, you know you can always give Him praise.

  2. Oh, how I love your youth pastor!
But, it tells me that I'm waaaay out of date, because I would never think to ask God for a FAX -- I ask Him for sky writing!
