Thankful for Grace

Over the years, I've written a lot of posts about thankfulness. God has totally blessed me in a variety of ways! Keeping in mind thankfulness needs to be an attitude expressed every day in the life of a Christ follower, I want to end November, our month of thanksgiving, with focusing on what I believe is the greatest blessing of all, grace.

Today, I'm sharing with you words from a post from 2012. I believed it when I wrote it then, and I totally believe it now:

I am so thankful God didn't require me to earn my way to heaven, because I know me. I would have messed it up somehow.

Instead, He gave the gift of His Son for people who really didn't deserve it (me included).

I didn't come from wealth and privilege.

I'm not the offspring of celebrities.

I have messed up, time and again.

I'm not a mental genius, but I'm smart enough to recognize a wonderful deal when I see one.

Ephesians 2:4-6 (HCSB) But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us, made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! Together with Christ Jesus He also raised us up and seated us in the heavens,

Grace means unmerited favor. I don't deserve Christ's love and provision. By grace, I get it anyway.

What do I have to give up to receive grace? - just a life filled with mistakes leading down a wrong path. I had to give up wanting my own way.

Sounds like the deal of an eternity to me ...

  1. What a wonderful way to cap off the truth of the Gospel. We are so thankful. May we never take it for granted.

  4. Amen and amen! There is no greater gift than God's gift of grace shown through His son, Jesus. This is a perfect closing to thankfulness as well as a beginning to the Christmas season!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  5. Isn't it neat that something you wrote back in 2012 is still "true" and the same after 4 years? That's because Jesus and grace is "true" and the same all the time!
