Walk

Over the years I have acquired a little extra poundage.  I've tried various things to lose weight but my favorite one is to "walk away the pounds."

Often my husband and I will try walking the track. He always gets ahead of me because I cannot walk as fast as he does. His stride is longer!

I will get frustrated and quit.

Recently, I joined the Fit-bit craze. Finally, a doable exercise program. All that really matters is that I get in my 10,000 steps. How fast I do it is not really important. What is important is that I just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

It makes me think of our Christian walk. It doesn't really matter how fast we each mature in Christ. The important thing is we start our journey and keep putting one foot in front of the other until we make it Home.

Oh yeah, we might stumble, fall down, even backtrack or veer off the path. The vital thing is to pick ourselves up, shake off the dust and get back on that path!

The enemy would love to derail us or at least delay us but we have to forget those things that are behind and press on.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, should keep us from our appointment with destiny and our arrival at our forever Home.

Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. You don't have to be the best, the smartest or the strongest. You just have to be faithful and keep walking.

The Journey is our way Home. There is nothing more important than making that final destination. Jesus paid my ticket there, but I have to walk it out. In October, I will be observing the things that happen while traveling the Journey and writing a daily post about my observations.

Because I like to stretch myself, I will also do a challenge within a challenge - 31 days of 5 minute free writes. I will take a topic and run with it, writing furiously for 5 minutes, tailoring it to relate to my theme of examining life along the Journey.

If you are a subscriber, you will receive my #31Day posts each day. If you're not a subscriber, why not? Please go up to the Follow By Email box in the very top of the right column and enter in your email address. I don't want you to miss a thing!

You can also click here each day and look at the bottom of this post. The link to the newest post will be there.

If you would like to join in on the 31 Day Challenge, either as a writer or a reader, go here.

If you would also like to do the 31 Day challenge by doing it in a 5 Minute Free Write format, go here.

I'm also sharing this post with the community at Word of God Speak.

  1. I like your comment that Jesus paid your ticket but you have to walk it out. We need to keep walking like you said one foot in front of the other and do the best we can with each and every day, trusting in the Good Lord along the way.
