A Secure Path

Have you ever been in a pit? I have. Sometimes I slid into a pit, I've even been pushed into a pit; but the times I hate the most is when I jumped in one of my own accord. *

I hate it when the only person to blame is me!

What's the first thing to do when in a pit? Cry for help!

I love reading Psalm 40:1-3 which tells us to cry out to the Lord and wait patiently for Him. Trying to get yourself out rarely works.

In His timing, He will reach in, pull you out of the pit and set you back on a secure path.

What awesome-ness! It's enough to make you sing!

What about you? Have you ever been in a pit?

I'm sharing this post with the community at #SmallWonder because the wonder is even when we are in a pit of our own making, He hears our cry!

* Beth Moore talks a lot about being in a pit in her bible study, Get Out of that Pit. I highly recommend it.

  2. I couldn't help but crack a smile when you said that you sometimes jump in on your own accord!! Oh, to say I have never done that is a bold faced lie! Many, Many times, I have just jumped and then wondered what did I do? how do I get out now? Then I proceed to call myself a dumby. Thanks for the reminder of Who will fetch me and why He will fetch me. I needed this today.

  3. Smiling along with Linda, because you're reminding me of Beth Moore's words about pit-dwelling. It's one thing to be in the pit, but we start moving in and picking out wall paper. I've been pondering lately, however, the truth that God heard his people when they cried out to Him from the pit, and He still hears us today.
Thanks, Jerralea, for your good ponderings.

  4. It's only in recent years that I've come to a deeper understanding of my utter dependence on God to be "delivered" in some areas of my life. It's humbling and also comforting that when we are stuck God delivers. Thanks for linking :)

  5. I'm real good at crying out for help from the Lord but it's the waiting patiently that sometimes gets me. But I'm working on it.
