Mercy

You might be a Christian, if you ... have experienced mercy.

You know, from the time you were conceived in the womb, you had a destiny. God had a plan for you to give you a future and a hope.

But you wanted to go your own way; and somehow, through your determination to be your own master, you lost your way.

That's when mercy stepped in. God always extends mercy somehow some way to everyone who wants it - just some are too blind or too stubborn to take it. Okay, there are those too rebellious to ever want to have anything to do with God.

At least not yet.

But you are one of the blessed ones. You deserved judgment but you desired mercy. You decided you needed help changing your ways, so you went to God and asked for His help. You believed in Jesus and made Him Lord of your life.

And you became a recipient of mercy.

Mercy rewrote your life. Yeah, you messed up the plan that God had for you, but mercy stepped in and did some revisions. Your life story is now going to end in victory!

Whenever I think of mercy, three things come to mind:

  • Fresh mercy. God says His mercies are new every morning. Even Christians mess up and need to revisit the throne of Grace. Every time you do, there is fresh mercy waiting for you. (See Lamentations 3:22-23 and 1 John 1:9)
  • The supply of mercy lasts forever. (See Psalm 136.)
