Relaxing Day ... Or Not

I love me a day off. I truly do.

However, there are some things about a day off that bug me.

First of all, if I have a day off, that doesn't mean the work that normally needs to be done on that day goes away. Oh no! It's either sitting there waiting on me when I get back, or if I do have someone filling in for me, I must pull everything needed to accomplish the task together and have it waiting for my co-worker.

Not fun. Not fun at all. (Don't get me wrong, I still want to have my day off, though.)

Another thing about having a day off that bugs me:  my eyes pop open at the regular time I'm supposed to get up. Sometimes I can go back to sleep, but most of the time, "it ain't happening."

I always feel like I should accomplish something extra when I have a day off ... otherwise, the day is wasted.

Oh, the pressure!

And then about half-way through my lovely free day, I start thinking ... "It's almost over. What do I have to show for it?" Or ... "only 3 more hours left of my time off."

So, in reality, having a day off boils down to two, maybe three, lovely hours of doing what I want and enjoying myself.

Is it worth it?  You bet!

  3. I know what you mean. The first thing... my eyes open the same time every morning! ugh! second, why do those days go so fast and the work day so slow?!

  4. I hear you. My day off is spent doing laundry and other things I can't get done during the week. I like the days off that take me away from home. That's when I relax the most. Thanks for stopping by.

  5. I'll tell myself I'm going to sleep in and then I'll get mad at myself for not getting up early enough to appreciate the full day off. Still worth it. :)

  6. I love how you end this. Just as I am thinking maybe the day off isn't all it is cracked up to be, you say it is totally worth it! Made me laugh!
