Daybook: 07.13.15

For Today... Monday, July 13th

Outside my window... heat and sunshine ... how many more days is it until Fall?   :)

I am thinking... it is good to be home.  My family and I (except for Malia) went to Florida to visit my mother. We were gone 10 days and had a wonderful time. Still, no matter where you go, it is always great to come home.

I am thankful... my house did not get flooded in all the rain our area has received.

I am wearing... white jean capris and a red and white  print top.  It is a very cool and comfy combo.

I am going... to post an abbreviated daybook this week. I've been snowed under since I got home. I hope to get the creative juices flowing soon and do more posting.

I am reading... still ... "Double Cross," by DiAnn Mills.  I didn't do any reading on vacay.

In my garden... all but 4 flowers made it while I was gone on vacation. The others have grown so beautifully from all the rain we received last week.

In my kitchen... I made fried chicken using a new recipe. It worked out very well. (You can see the recipe under the board room prompt.)

By the way, a couple weeks ago I posted a strawberry mousse recipe that I was going to try.  It was very good, and I'm sad I didn't make a double batch.

A peek into one of my days...

Dusk at Siesta Key
I think dusk at the beach is the best time of all.

One of my favorite things... seeing old friends. I was able to see several - but not all - of my friends in Florida. Of course, we have all changed since the old days; but, I've noticed everyone's eyes still look the same.

From the board room... as promised, a great fried chicken recipe:

  4. After our sweltering weekend, I mentioned winter too! LOL Winter is also a SLOW time for me and I get more opportunities to STAY HOME and get things done and even find some time to relax. In the summer? Well, the dishes will get caught up in the fall, right? Or maybe I should switch to paper and plastic? There's just not time or energy to do them!

  5. Hi. Visiting from the Daybook. I wanted to thank you for the mousse recipe. I had raspberries at the time, so I used raspberry gelatine, but otherwise followed the recipe. I was sad I didn't make a double batch too! Thanks for sharing.

  7. I'm happy you had a wonderful time away but there really IS nothing like your own bed! :)

I love dusk AND sunrise at the beach..whether it's the ocean or a mountain lake, doesn't matter to me. I just love taking photos too like you did!

I no longer eat fried foods but your recipe sounds good.

We are having a stretch of the perfect summer weather here in eastern NY. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. NO high heat or humidity and NO rain!! It's been a glorious week. I hope it continues to be this way :)

Happy summer!! Don't wish autumn too early please. As of today, our schools have only been on vacation for 3 weeks! We have about 8 to go!! YAY!!!!
