1. First and foremost, Thursday was our oldest daughter's birthday. It's a joyous day for us because we had waited to be parents for so long. Sometimes, dreams are sweeter when you have to wait. Anyway, it was a good day when, once again, all the girls and the grands were there to spend time together .

2. Of course, I enjoyed having Monday off and celebrating Memorial Day. Probably like everyone else, we did grill out and enjoyed our food. We also included, the day before, a trip to our parents' graves to set out flowers. The graveyard where our family rests is on such a pretty shady hill!
I do not have any family who gave their lives for our county (as far as I know) but have had some uncles, cousins, and of course, my son-in-law, serve in the military. We could not exist as a country without their service. I am proud of them and thank them for their sacrifice.
3. Although my work week was shortened, things went well and I was able to finish strong! I thank God for the ability to work and do my job.
4. Wednesday was my turn to lead the midweek service. I had prepared notes for 2 Peter 2. I told my hubby that my lesson was not a fun exciting one and I hoped I had enough material. The subject was on false teachers. God was with me and the discussion went well and actually we only covered half of chapter 2. I love when I have comments and participation in the lesson.
5. Quote of the week:
"Instead of giving someone a piece of your mind, it turns out far better if you give them a piece of your heart."

And so ends another week on the Journey that went by like a landscape passed by a racing car. Stopping to reflect helps, a little, to sharpen our focus on the blessings in our days.
How did your week go? I'd be honored if you would leave a comment and share, or you could link up your own Friday's Faves post at Susanne's space, Living to Tell the Story."
A very happy birthday to your daughter. How sweet that you could all celebrate together. Short weeks can be so weird. Glad yours worked out well!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
So nice that you could celebrate together. Family time is precious. And yay for you getting through your work load with the shorter week. I'm always thrown off by the Monday-on-Tuesday-thing. I vote for more three-day weekends so we can adjust better ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your daughter. Today is my daughter's birthday. I don't understand how they keep getting older when we don't age a bit ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your pretty girl and the grandson is adorable!! I love your faves list...and yay for 3 day weekends :)
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday to your daughter. Love that picture of her and your precious grandson. That is a nice thing that the scouts do on Memorial Day! Glad that you were able to finish up your work even though it was a shortened week. That is always a relief to go into the weekend with.
ReplyDeleteHi Jerralea! You had a fun week! Happy birthday to your oldest too :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your leadership day went well. I think I'd be pretty nervous too! Sounds like your message was one that needed to be heard.
We just got back from visiting my daughter and her family. It was such fun to see our grands, and we had one good day of weather, followed by rain and cold. But it was great just to play and hang out.
Happy Monday!

What a sweet photo of your birthday girl and her boy!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your leading the discussion went so well. Like you, I tend to be a bit nervous and over prepare--even for my writing classes.
Have another great week!
