L is for Lemon Loaf and Liberty

Lemony dishes make me think of Spring.  I've always been in love with the color yellow, which is a nice Spring-y color, and the lemon citrus flavor makes your mouth wake up and say, "Hey, it won't be long until Summer and lemonade time."

Today, I want to share with you an easy quick dessert, or sweet bread, called Lemon Loaf.  I saw this recipe at Mennonite Girls Can Cook, and it is definitely a keeper. Naturally, I pinned it to Pinterest. The first time I made it, I took it to an All Church Fellowship dinner. It was a small crowd that night, but I still left with an empty pan and plenty of compliments.

Since then, I made it again and it was a big hit with the fam. It is just as moist on the third day when I ate the last piece as it was on the first day. You can find the recipe here. (I know there are carbs in this recipe ... but at least I used Sugar-free Instant Lemon Pudding in this recipe!)

Another "L" word that I'm very fond of is the word Liberty. Especially we American Christians treasure that word because freedom is such an important concept to us.

For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. Galatians 5:13

I'm against legalism and rules and a bunch of do and don'ts. But we are not to use our freedom to live just any way we choose. We freely offer ourselves to serve our brothers and sisters. When we do that, we are showing that we are a new creation, grateful to have experienced the love of the Father.

Serve one another. It might even be the Lord would have you to bake a Lemon Loaf and take to your neighbor ...

Lemon Loaf and Liberty is another post from my series, Feasting Body and Soul from A-Z.  I believe family dinner is important and I also believe food for the soul is just as important. Join me each day as I explore feeding both.

During April, I’m participating in the A-Z Challenge.  Over  eight hundred writers (as of last count) will be posting in various categories. Visit here to see a list of all the fantastic bloggers – a veritable smorgasbord of entries to feast upon!

  3. That lemon loaf looks delicious! You can just see the moistness in the picture :) So true about liberty; we have it but we should not abuse it in our faith; but definitely we don't want to ever get into legalism.
