I is for Ice Cream Oreo Dessert ...and Inheritances

My family loves Oreos. They also like ice cream very much.

I love the convenience of having a dessert ready made.

This next recipe combines all these loves together. I found this gem of a recipe at Daily Essentials and Deals. There, the recipe is named Oreo Ice Cream Dessert because the star of the recipe is Oreos, naturally.

However, I name my version, Ice Cream Oreo Dessert because I make ice cream the focus.  The original recipe pairs Oreos with vanilla ice cream, cool whip and chocolate sauce. So, enough yakking, here is the recipe:

The bottom is a Oreo crust.
I take 1 package of Oreos and crush them up.
(To crush them I put them into a Ziploc bag and smash them up. You could use a food processor)
Put them in a 9x13 pan and pour 1/4 cup of melted butter over it and press crumbs together.

Next add 1/2 gallon of ice cream.
I used vanilla but you can use  any kind you like.
*Use small scoops so you have enough to go over the whole pan*

Pour chocolate syrup (or caramel!) over it.
Depending on what ice cream you use you may not need to add this. Think of all the possibilities - black cherry ice cream with chocolate syrup ... moose tracks with caramel ... butter pecan with caramel.

Top with small tub of Cool Whip
I add a little more chocolate syrup on top of the Cool Whip.

Freeze... It's Delicious!!!

My version replaces the vanilla ice cream with peanut butter cup ice cream (Great Value brand) and caramel sauce for a decadent taste sensation. It kind of reminds me of a Dairy Queen Blizzard Ice Cream Cake.

So rich!

While being rich in ice cream is a great thing, having spiritual riches is even better.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5

Receiving an inheritance here on earth is great but oftentimes, taxes, upkeep and insurance make it difficult to keep the value of the inheritance as valuable as it once was.

A heavenly inheritance lasts forever! It is given to us by Christ when we accept Him as Savior and believe that He is who He says He is. Once you are a believer, your inheritance is reserved for you in heaven - and then He gives you the power to get there and receive it. Remember, you don't do it on your own efforts, it's all about Him.

Riches in Christ are so much more worthwhile!

  8. Hello there.
Nothing beats chocolate and vanilla combo!

Jesus said that not only must we exercise faith in him, but we must endure to the end. He also indicated a global preaching work would take place first and then the end would come (Matthew 24:13, 14). Enduring requires some sort of action on our part (John 8:31, 32). Earth is our home. God created it to be inhabited (Psalms 37:11, 29; Isaiah 45:18). Earth will not be destroyed, only wicked and unrighteous people will be (Psalms 37:9, 10: Revelation 11:18). The Bible also tells us only 144,000 from the earth will actually go to heaven. These have already been chosen by God and His Son, Jesus (Luke 22:28; Revelation 14:1, 3).
    Thanks for sharing.
