Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: (Matthew 7:7 King James Version (KJV))
It's my understanding that the words translated here, in their original form, mean "ask and keep on asking," "seek and keep on seeking," and "knock and keep on knocking."
In other words, don't give up.
Be persistent. Whatever you need from God, you can have. Persevere in your asking, seeking and knocking.
Because the promise is sure, given to you by a God who cannot lie.
He said it another way:
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." {Matthew 6:33, King James Version (KJV))
You can't ask amiss if you are seeking Him. So keep on.

Just write.

Great post! continually asking, seeking and knocking! Thanks so much, Jerralea!
ReplyDeleteThe second one was our verse for bible study tonight!
ReplyDelete(I don't believe in coincidences!)
So true that God will give us what we need; a lot of people have trouble sometimes distinguishing between needs and wants though :)

Great reminder Jerralea! Sometimes we stop asking just before He gets ready to answer. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Jerralea. We have not because we ask not.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this insight, Jerralea. I love the "keep on" part that we miss in our English reading. I know I need that gentle reminder often to never given up!
