Day 7 - Go

I write often about the love I have for home.  To me, home is such a vital part of our society and I'm crushed when I hear of those for whom home is not a haven but rather something to avoid. Home is the first institution God created and I honor it, even above church.  (I know that is surprising to some!)

My heart is home and I never had a desire to be anything other than a homemaker and mother.  Yet, being a SAHM was not God's choice for me.  Due to my husband's illness, I had to go to work.

Each day I have to go out in the world and earn a living. More than that He has called me to be a leader in my church. So almost every day of my life, even though I long and yearn to stay home, I must go to work. Go to church. Go to practice. Go to meetings ... and on and on.

One thing great about the going is how sweet it is to come back!

Sunbeams on the Water make me think "Pathway to Heaven."

I must remember that I am but an alien and a stranger here in this land.  I am not sent here to put down roots so deep that I can never want to go to my true Home, my heavenly Home, for that is where I really belong!

No, I am to occupy here and do my best to make others want to go on that heavenly journey with me.

I am here to encourage you to want to go, too!

Do you have a desire to go Home?  If not, I'll be glad to tell you all about it! Leave a comment and share!

This post is Day 7 of a series entitled 31 Days of Life on the Journey where I share about my journey as a believer, wife, mom and grandmother.  I invite you to return each day to find the newest link here. 1. So... I've been living like I'm dying these 31 days of October (and yes, I know I'm not even promised tomorrow ;-) ) and I'm really very committed to the challenge - I get anxious and sad sometimes. But mostly there's a sense of relief that this will all be over. Anticipation and excitement are bubbling beneath the surface. I'm just so ready to get home!

  2. You are fortunate too that you gave the greatest work environment I could ever imagine! I too long to be at home but oh that is another story of disobedience! Mister wanted me to stay home and I wouldn't. Now we have put ourselves in the same trap as most Americans, I have to right now.
Can't wait to go Home! :) While watching the Blood Moon this morning as a family Mister said "wouldn't it be great to be raptured right now?" :)))

  3. Jerralea, I totally agree with you regarding your thoughts on priority of home and church. ;)

And, yes, I long to go HOME! It seems that Heaven is getting sweeter and sweeter with the passing of some close godly saints...makes me long for Home even more!

  4. Good topic~
I agree about having a heart for the home! It is a God given thing~
I would say that having to work outside the home is a sacrifice that God knows you are doing~ A sacrifice for your family and for love~
    Hugs~
