Day 30: First

I was the first grandchild and great grandchild on my dad's side. My great-grandpa called me "First" instead of my name.

I was the first granddaughter on my mom's side.

As the oldest child in my family, I was kind of used to being in charge.

I would say that one of the biggest challenges on my Journey after becoming a Christian was learning to put God first instead of me.

I had to learn everything was not about me. I still need refresher courses from time to time.

It's not so much that I think I have to have everything, I'm certainly able to share. I don't want it all. It's just that my thought life is involved with what I want to do and how I'm going to do it. Don't judge, I'm just being real.

My goal for the rest of my Journey is to think on Him a whole lot more than I think on me.

John 3:30Amplified Bible (AMP)He must increase, but I must decrease. [He must grow more prominent; I must grow less so.]

Who's first in your life?

  1. I would like to say Jesus is first in my life, but I don't always live that way, but hope to continue to strive to do so daily.

  2. Oh yes, I come from the same place you do. The oldest, most doted on, got my way most of the time... and sometimes I still think I should. It's a continual process. Old habits die hard as they say. But we will not be perfect this side of glory. The Lord is #1 and I try to remember to walk in the shadow of the Almighty. Thanks Jerralea! have a great weekend!

  3. My first thought is to say that Jesus is first in my life but I have to confess sometimes I get in the way (Okay - a lot of times!) It is a lesson I learn and re-learn every day. Ultimately, He does end up first but I'd like Him to be my first thought. Great post. Have a great weekend.
