Daybook: 09.02.14

FOR TODAY, September 2

Outside my window... overcast and a trifle cooler.  I see next week's temps are forecast to be much more pleasant!

I am thinking... my grandbabies will be 3 months old on Saturday.  How quickly time has flown!

I am thankful... that my kids and grandkids are healthy. I totally realize what a blessing that is!

In the kitchen... chicken ready to be baked and BBQ'd tonight.

I am wearing... white capris and white sandals, yellow cami and teal camp shirt.

I am creating... a filing system that has a whole drawer dedicated to filing bible study notes. First. Time. Ever.  (I don't know why I never did it before instead of sticking various papers here and there.)

I am reading... "Chasing God," by Angie Smith.  Excellent, excellent book!

I am looking forward to... a staycation, either in September or October.

I am learning every day how much more I need to learn.  I think we need to be learning up to our last moments in life.

Around the house... still working on my files.  My decision to make my files pretty using washi tape has slowed me down a bit ... but it's totally worth it!

Also, it's time to drag out the fall decor - my favorite time of year to decorate.

A favorite quote for today...  from a sermon from my pastor a couple of weeks ago ...

"A real superhero doesn't realize he is one." - Travis Schroeder

I thought about this statement in conjunction with parenting. My definition of a superhero parent is one who gives his or her all, denying themselves for their child, often working a job that is less than their dream so that the child may have more. Someone who puts their goals on the back burner so that the family can be blessed. Someone who did all they could do but wishes so desperately to have done more ...  I think there are a lot of superheroes who feel like failures but actually have done the impossible.

I'm also thinking of all the superheroes I know.  One lady in particular comes to mind. She is a caregiver for her husband who is stricken with Alzheimer's.  She is truly a hero, dealing with her situation with grace and beauty.  My heart goes out to her and I pray that God would ease her load, give her supernatural strength - and X-Ray vision when needed to keep track of her hubby's latest escapade.

One of my favorite things... notebooks.  I must have lots of them for various reasons - journaling, note-taking, to-do lists, etc.  My favorite are lined and can open flat and my pen hooks into the wire on the side easily.  If it is cute, so much the better.

A few plans for the rest of the week: busy, busy.  At work, I must do my annual church profile along with the end of the month tasks. At home, finishing up the file system and doing some end of the month reports for my part-time church. Friday is a special fellowship meeting.  I'm thinking Saturday should be a day spent at the lake relaxing under the trees. ....

A peek into my day...

  5. I laughed about your notebook comment. I love notebooks too. That is where I keep my brain! I'm ready to break out the fall decorations too, hot or not. I like the idea of files for your Bible study notes. Mine is just all jammed into one file. Have a blessed day.
