F.F.F. - 08/29/14

Today is the last Friday of August - the very last of the Friday "dog-days".  It's no secret, I guess, that I will be glad to see the dog-days go, but I still had a lovely week in spite of them.

1. Last Saturday, my beloved and I spent the day together. We started out the day (after a quick run to do the bulletin at my part-time church) on a mini road-trip to his cousin's consignment shop. (I mistakenly called it a thrift shop in my Monday's Daybook.)

The Turquoise Door had so many interesting arts and crafts to behold. It was hard to choose.  I decided to be practical and bought home-made microfiber swiffer covers for my duster and mop.  I had recently been horrified to see how much a box of refills for my duster cost.  Now I can wash and reuse and save $$.

2.  After returning home and attacking the usual Saturday chores, hubs and I worked on updating our filing system. Sounds weird to include that as a highlight, I guess, but organization is definitely one of my loves.

3.  Another bad news / good news event:  The bad news was that today the bottom of my blender came apart - in the middle of making my morning breakfast smoothie.  Rivers of peanut butter, banana and coconut milk erupted over my counter-top and dripped onto the floor. Not fun.  The good news was I had seen a great ad on Addicted to Savings regarding a great price on a blender.  I ordered it and thanks to Amazon Prime my new blender was sitting in the box in my office when this fiasco happened.  I opened the new box and in no-time at all was whirling a new concoction in it.  Thank goodness for the inner prompting to go ahead and buy this blender two days ago when I saw the ad!

4.  I was also cheered this week by new pics of the twins. Their little cousin on their daddy's side had been visiting and it was decided to have photos made.  Here is my favorite:

Sweet!

5.  Quote of the week:

“I like flaws and feel more comfortable around people who have them.

I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions.”

Me, too!

And so ends another week on the Journey.  If you'd like to share your week, leave a comment, or link up at Susanne's page, Living to Tell the Story.  It's fun!

  1. Sounds like a great week! Neat that you had already ordered a blender before your went kaput!

Your day together last weekend sounds fun. There used to be a craft consignment shop where we used to live - didn't get out to it often as it was out a ways, but I enjoyed it when I could go there.

    Such a cute photo!

Great list, but I'm really thinking about that smoothie. It sounds delicious.

  4. I love thrift stores. Nothing like a good deal! Sorry I had to chuckle at what happened when your blender broke...it's just something that would have happened to me! Glad you found a good deal on another one :)

  5. Love black and white photos and that one of the twins and their cousin is adorable!

An afternoon spent organizing files (or most anything) would be a fave for me but certainly not for my hubby. I hope yours enjoyed it :)

  7. Cute quote. Being around seemingly perfect people can be depressing ;-) I just discovered a consignment store in my neighborhood, too, though I've yet to visit. Glad you found something useful there. And a day with your husband? I love it that you spend time together in all manner of outings.
