F.F.F. - 08.22.14

All in all, it has been a good week here on the Journey.

1. The first thing I need to share is this adorable photo of Baylee - n - Brody:

It's amazing what joy a new pic of our angels bring us.  I was thinking about pioneer days where a family strikes out on their own heading west and often the parents never heard back from them.  Never to know how they fared, and certainly never a photo of their grandchildren.  Thank God, I live in an era where I can know everyday if something happens.  I can see instantly on facebook when my daughter posts a new photo.

2.  Saturday was the last day of yard-saling season for us. To be sure, there will still be yard sales around, but we always quit when the first full week of school starts because then my daughter's work load dramatically increases. Actually, we are burnt out on going by then anyway. It's always fun, though. I love the bonding time and the treasure-hunting. I will love sleeping in on Saturdays now, though.

3.  I started on the Annual Church Profile this week.  I count this as a highlight because it gives me another opportunity to make a cool organized binder. I'm weird that way. There is something about data neatly organized and color-coded that brings a thrill to my heart. Also, I've been doing this long enough that I have a system in place for gathering information.  What used to be such a trial and took so much of my time for about a month is now whittled down to maybe three afternoons - 4 at the most.

4. Good and bad news:  The good news was it only cost $50. The bad news was my hubby's PC quit working and came on long enough to go back off. This could have been an epic disaster as the hubs is pretty addicted to his computer and feels lost without it.  (Can we say Facebook junkie?) Visions of buying a new tower were dancing in our heads.  Not cool when you are trying to save for a down payment on a much needed new vehicle! I called the computer tech who services the church computers.  He had it up and running in a day for $50.  What a blessing!

5.  Quote of the Week:

"Never let a bad day make you feel like you have a bad life."
~Unknown

Seen on Christy  Jordan’s Southern Plate blog. (Visit the link and you will also see an awesome peanut butter cup recipe that is definitely on my list to try.)

Your life is not the sum of a bad day. Stuff happens. Sleep on it, and start over tomorrow.  Things always look better in the morning.

And that wraps up another week on the Journey.  How did YOUR week go?  You can leave a comment, or consider writing your own Friday's Favorite Five and link up at Susanne's blog, Living to Tell the Story. You'll be glad you did.

  3. Beautiful babies! Couldn't imagine the scenario that you described. Never seeing the grands! 😢
    Great quote!

  4. Such a sweet picture of the babies! Great price too to get the computer fixed! I bet that was a relief! When we lived in Montana, the garage sale season pretty much ends after Labor Day because of the weather, but the best time to have a sale is June early July, otherwise people start getting tired of them :)

    Happy weekend!

  5. What a sweet photo of the babies! I, too, love living in an era where we can see new pics and updates frequently. So much easier than when mine were little and we had to wait til we took the whole roll of photos then wait for them to be developed and then wait to get them mailed.

I like getting things organized, too. It's neat you've got a system in place and it doesn't take as long as it used to.

Glad your computer was able to be fixed quickly and inexpensively!

I like that quote. We need to put the bad days behind us and move on.

  7. A simple quote, but one we have to be reminded of when bad days come! Love those twin photos -- and so glad you can see them often with technology (when it works!).

Like you, I love tidy, organized, readable, functional data ;-)

  9. Are those angels your grandbabies? OH my. The busyness of summer really pulled me out of the blogging loop. Congratulations. JOY. And it brings tears to my eyes -- your image of the grandmother before easy communication. What a loss. But I guess they knew no different.
