Daybook: 08.25.14

FOR TODAY, Monday, August 25th

Outside my window... the dog days of summer.  I'm trying not to complain because I remember how sick of winter I was last year.

I am thinking... about fall decorating - because it's almost here, people! - and because I don't want to focus on the heat.

I am thankful...for the life I've been given.  I've certainly fallen short many times, but I praise God for His grace.

In the kitchen... pinto beans in the crockpot, later I'll make some hot cornbread and slice up some home-grown tomatoes.  Yum, yum.

I am wearing... my favorite leopard print tunic over black capris, and of course, sandals on my feet.

I am creating...a new filing system at my home office.  I'm two-thirds done, praise the Lord.

I am looking forward to... Labor Day and another day off. I'm hoping for a trip to the lake but there are rain showers forecast ...

Around the house... it's looking better - I finally got the corner in our office where we pile everything cleaned out. Such a relief!

I am pondering... a favorite quote for today...

"Giving up is not easier than pushing through ... because starting over is HARD!"   (from my pastor's sermon, "Press On.")

One of my favorite things... making things pretty.  I brought a turquoise porcelain vase to work that is just the right size to put my pens and scissors in.  It makes me feel so much better - especially since I've set a photo of Baylee's beautiful blue eyes next to it.

A few plans for the rest of the week: preparation for a bible study for Wednesday, and finishing the file system makeover.

A peek into my day...

This photo is from a road-trip to visit a cousin's thrift shop. (More about that on Friday.)

  1. Yes, these dog days of summer. I don't remember them being so HOT! Looking forward to hearing about your trip to the thrift shop! I love those places!
With the heat I am busy working on those inside projects that I need to get done...filing, de-cluttering, you know all those things I will put off when fall gets here so I can be outside before it get too COLD. ;)

  4. I am so ready for fall! I don't usually decorate until I feel that little bit of chill in the air but maybe this year I'll start early! I enjoy re-doing and re-organizing! Have a great week.

  5. I love the image of the porcelain vase holding your pens. I have a friend who can see other uses for things to beauty the every day. And girlfriend, we could have a feast with those pinto beans and cornbread. That is my kind of eating.

  6. Beans and cornbread is a favorite fall meal of mine. Growing up my grandma made it all the time. It's so much easier cooking it in the crockpot. The weather is starting to cool off just a bit which makes me super excited for fall too. Hope you're having a lovely weekend.
