Change is here to stay!

Life is change, I always say.

You need to be flexible because just when you think you have everything working together perfectly; presto! change-o, it is now different.

But hey! Think how boring it would all be if everything always stayed the same.

For example, anytime I find a product I really like, it seems the next time I try to buy it, it has changed.  New and improved, they say.  Why can't they leave things alone? I liked it the way it was.  Or, sometimes my favorite store has decided they will no longer stock my favorite item. Now I must hunt it down ... or change and buy something different.

Then there are life situations that change, sometimes seemingly overnight.  Co-workers come and go, births and deaths happen, and the dynamics of our safe little world are different in an instant.

It can make your head spin!

How wonderful, how comforting is the knowledge that there are some unchangeable things. Like my decision to love my husband.  My love for my kids and grand-kids will never change despite their actions. The love God has for me - do you know I can't make Him stop loving me?  His word is unchangeable - what a joy to look in there and find principles I know I can count on and that never change even though my world does!

Change - it's here to stay.  May I always be adaptable while holding firm to what should not ever change.

This post was written in response to the one word prompt "change" found at 5 Minute Friday now hosted by Kate at the blog "heading home." This is meant to be a free write, which means: no editing, no over-thinking, no worrying about perfect grammar or punctuation.

Just write.

Also, the most important rule is that you visit the blog of the person who linked up before you and leave some encouragement.  That’s the most fun of all, and the heart of this community.

So, how do YOU deal with change? Your words are important, so please leave a comment and share.

  1. I think that the biggest secret lies in being adaptable...and that is so hard

  2. What a great reminder that God's love and His word never changes. And yes, those are two of the best things to hold onto in this ever changing world. Enjoyed reading your thoughts on "change".

  3. Jerralea, thanks again for stopping by my blog today. Enjoyed reading your post on change, which isn't easy for any of us, I guess. Thank goodness we have God walking with us through it all.

  4. I have a hard time with change. I know it is a fact of life but I am slow to move along with it. I am a routine, structure driven person and change always puts a kink in things. :) Hope you stay cool this very hot weekend!

  5. I don't do well with change. I'm kinda like "just leave well enough alone". But, I have to admit, there are good changes out there and you do have to go with the flow. I'm so thankful that God's love never changes. That is the one constant I can depend on! Have a great weekend.

  6. Beautifully put! It annoys me when I grow to like a product and they discontinue it or change it! With potato chips, they seem to like to shrink down the amount they put in a bag! That happened with the Quaker Rice Snacks I loved, then with Baked Cheetos. One good change recently was that Crystal Light started making this grape drink mix that I used to have to go to Kroger to get. (They had their own drink mixes.) Now I can shop solely at Publix. Our Kroger is a nightmare because we live in a blue-collar area and everyone swarms the place. It's the little things!

  9. I like your last comment, may I always be adaptable while holding frm to what should not ever change. So much wisdom in those words!

I'm not one that likes change even though I know it is always around us and inevitable.

  10. flexibility is the greatest trait my parents taught me. So much frustration and anger comes from not being flexible. We think we're in so much control of things, but we really have very little control over anything! You are so right that only God is unchanging. He is my rock, and I'm so grateful to know that!
