Blessing-Counter

GRATEFUL

If you have ever heard of Ann Voskamp and her book,  One Thousand Gifts, you know she has encouraged us to give thanks daily for the gifts God has placed in our lives.  Ever since I read her book, I've been more mindful of all the blessings in my life - even the little things.

Of course, I'm grateful for the greatest blessings that God has placed in my life:  salvation, husband, kids, loving parents, health, food on the table, roof over my head, family and friends.

But I don't stop there.  Blessings surround me every day and in all ways.  I daresay blessings
Grateful for a Beautiful World!
surround you, too.

I've become a blessing-counter and I highly recommend it.  It pays to be grateful. You might wonder what good being grateful can do.

Seeing all the good things you have in your life lets you see how good God has been to you.  Even those who, on the outside looking in, we might think have a hard life, can still find abundant blessings God has given them.  And each blessing we have, even if we can only think of one, testifies of a good and loving God who will help us.

He is ever the same.*  He has no favorites.*  If He had compassion and extended mercy to us once, He will again.*

Look to the Source of every good thing in your life.  You won't be disappointed!

Five Minute Friday

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..

Sounds like fun, yes?  If you want to join us, go to Lisa-Jo Baker.com.

  1. Great thoughts about gratitude. I follow another lady's blog who read this book you mentioned and she has reached her 1000 gifts but keeps counting, buts them on her blog, 3 things she's grateful for daily. Its a neat thing to get into a habit of gratitude; I need to do that for sure!

  3. What a great exercise. We so rarely step back and think about all our blessings...but something like this makes us stop and feel grateful!

  5. "Five Minute Friday" sounds interesting, I may have to do that one day.

I've found that the older I get, the more thankful I am...and I am still not thankful nearly enough! I think I realize more and more just how good God is, and how much He has blessed me an my family.
