As I considered different words for reflection for the letter "F" several good ones came to mind: family, fun, faith, fellowship and focus. They are all good words and I think I could come up with quite a bit to say about each one.
However, I decided to go a different route and chose the word "first."
Remember, my goal is to list 26 words that are worthy to dwell on in your thoughts. Words that describe something true, lovely, pure and praiseworthy.
I believe that the topic of most people's thoughts are of themselves. What shall I do? What will make my life easier? How will I get the things I want?
Have you ever been in a conversation with someone who is only concerned with themselves? "I did this." "I did that." I, I, I.
Instead of always dwelling on ourselves and our problems, Jesus said to "seek the kingdom of heaven first, and all these things will be added unto you." This admonition was given during the famous sermon on the mount where He had just explained that God cared when the sparrows fell to the ground and we are so much more valuable to Him. Why He even numbers the hairs on our head! He knows what we need. We can trust Him to take care of us if we seek Him first above all things.
So instead of dwelling upon all your thoughts and fears of not having enough, first dwell on the goodness of God and the gifts He has given you in the past. If you put Him first, you can be sure He will meet your need just like He has done in times past.
