F.F.F.-03.21.14

This week's Friday's Favorite Five will be more about the things I thought about than the events that happened.

Because this week has been a challenging week ... I'm sure you know what those are like.

1.  It started out with a call during church Sunday morning that my full-time church had had a break in.  The great thing about this is that nothing of value had been stolen. The down side of this event was a lack of peace and the endless talking it over that everyone participated in.

2.  However, this trial is like every other trial that comes our way.  It is an opportunity to affirm our trust in God.  He is in control.  He is our protector and our avenger.  He will punish and deliver. Just. Like. Every. Time. Before.

What is there to worry about?

3.  Did you know God cares about lost files?  Yes, He does.  I had something that I could not find, and frankly, I was all worried about it.  I prayed about it.  The next day, I went right back to where it was supposed to be, and there it was!  It had been there all along and I just couldn't see it.  How many other things are hiding in plain sight?  Ask the One who knows!

4.  "I wonder how God is going to do it!"  I remembered what Bro. Chapman said when I got the sad news that our copier at my part-time church is not worth fixing.  Pretty discouraging news for a cash-strapped congregation, but our Father has an answer and it will be exciting to find out how He provides.

5.  Quote of the Week:

"In a world intolerant toward difference, be the difference."

Duane's post is excellent for anyone who either has a mental illness or has a loved one challenged by it.

I also read this statement as a clarion call to stand out from the crowd, to be who you are.  If I were back in my child-rearing days, I would work harder on instilling in my daughters that it is okay to be different. We should not be like the in-crowd.  We should be who is right, true and honorable and never let our peers influence us to be less than who we are.

It's cool to be different!

And so ends another week on the Journey, a week of leaning on God and facing unpleasant things.  I'm just glad I got Somebody who is on this Journey with me.

Q4U - How was your week?  Was it a challenge or can you easily find five blessings?  Share in the comments or link up at Susanne's blog, Living to Tell the Story.

  1. Your fave five is the best I've read all day. I really needed to be reminded of some of these things you write about. It was a bit challenging for me this week too in regards to a distant family member and a misunderstanding/ Achilles' tendon yesterday and am now in pain when walking. Ugh...but...a God is still good and His mercies are new every morning!!!! Have a restful weekend.

  2. I'm sorry for the troubles you faced this week but your positive, faith-filled outlook will make all the difference. It's always better to face difficulties that way although it's challenging. Now you'll have the joy of seeing how God will come through for you all. And we'll rejoice along with you!

  3. Remembering God's sovereignty is always a good thing and I'm glad you could practice it in the midst of unsettling events. He does care about the little things; isn't it wonderful?

  4. Some weeks are easier than others to find blessings and things to be thankful for. I know that break ins cause all kinds of feelings of fear and violation (been there, had that) I'm praying tonight that you will have peace. And hurray for finding that file!

  5. I love your positive outlook and attitude in what was a challenging week. It was a great encouragement reading them knowing that it wasn't as easy this week for you to find blessings.
