F.F.F. - 02.21.14

Welcome as we celebrate Friday here on the Journey.  I love the idea of a fresh weekend coming up filled with the possibilities of sleeping in, fun projects at home, and / or just being lazy.

But first, a look back at my week on the Journey.  A week that was much the same as last week, actually.  Yet I am sure I can find five highlights.

1.  Last Saturday, I made a quick stop at Payless Shoes since I had an awesome coupon burning a whole in my pocket.  I have been wanting to wear some ballet flats for a long time (I'm on my feet a lot during worship.) However, most flats I've tried just don't feel comfortable on my feet.  I found a solution, though, at Payless: dexflex comfort in the Claire scrunch flat.

It was love at first fit - so of course, I bought two pair in different colors.  (Do you know me?) I wore them Wednesday, all day long and even up into the evening hours without taking them off even once.  So comfortable!  There are 6 more colors available.  One color is not me, but the other five are calling my name ....

2.  I finished up my S.O.A.P. study on 1 Peter 2 and I really got a lot out of it.  I'm excited especially about verse 9 - I've been called out of darkness to proclaim His praises.  I'm glad to do it, too, because there is nothing as awesome as the God I serve.  He is wonderful, merciful and altogether lovely!

3.  I mentioned #2 because I'm excited about continuing on my goal I've set for 2014 which is to do an intense verse by verse study of 1 Peter and 2 Peter during this year.  Chapters one and two are now accomplished.  It's almost the end of February and I'm still at it.  Setting goals is much better than making resolutions in my book.  As long as your goal is an attainable one, you can see progress and keep motivated.

4. Valentine's remembrance;  my hubby bought me the biggest box of  chocolates - it is going to take forever to eat it - and a lovely card.  I especially like this year's card because the front of it is so cute, I'm thinking about framing it.  It says "Love You - Love Our Life," and has an awesome LOVE graphic.  Since my love language is words of affirmation, I loved the letter he wrote inside.  We have a practice in our family of writing love letters and putting them inside the cards we give each other for special occasions. Of course, I keep them always and re-read them from time to time.  I'm just a sentimental softie!

5.  Quote of the week:

"What I am doesn't change who He is." - Steven Furtick

I do not agree with Furtick on everything, but he nailed it with this statement.  Even if I fail, it doesn't change that He is the God who cannot fail.  My imperfections cannot change His perfection.

And so ends another week on the Journey.  How were you blessed in the past week?  Leave a comment or link up at Susanne's blog, Living to Tell the Story.

  1. Those shoes look terrific! so comfortable! :) (note to self: go to payless)
I too like goals and not resolutions. I don't feel like such a failure! And I have things to strive for.
    Great quote!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  2. I'm going to have to stop by Payless! I wear flats exclusively.

I prefer goals to resolutions, too.

Your Valentine's card and letter sound sweet.

  3. I am going to have to comment on those flats too. I have a hard time finding comfortable shoes and maybe the ones you showed will work for me too. Payless is where I bought my shoes a couple of weeks ago. But both of them are black and not suitable for dresses/skirts.

Hurray on making progress on your 1/2nd Peter goal. I hope you'll share with us (sometime) things that especially stand out. Those are some of my favorite books. I just took a detour and read I Peter. I always get a blast of encouragement when I read IPI:12

    Have a great week, Jerralea.

  4. Oh, dear. You have me calculating the nearest Payless....

I'm so glad you can see progress in a goal that reaps eternal rewards. Hope your weekend was full of relaxing possibilities. I like that feeling, too.
