Daybook-05.06.13

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...
56° and overcast.

I am thinking... about Pastor's sermon yesterday, The Famous One.  In Mark chapter one, Jesus healed a man with an unclean spirit, and his fame was spread abroad Galilee.  Seriously, there has never been, nor will there ever be, a more famous one than Jesus.  After all, we even divide time with the year of His birth.

His name has power; in fact, today people are so afraid of hearing the mere mention of His name, they try to erase His name from any public arena.  So, unbelievers must know it is powerful, too.

I am thankful...for the wonderful place I grew up and all the lovely memories I have.

In the kitchen... pinto beans and cornbread ... yum!

I am wearing... black pinstripe pants, teal sparkly tank top, black shrug

I am reading... "The Yellow Packard," by Ace Collins.  Riveting!

I am looking forward to... my next day off, Memorial Day.  Hope it doesn't rain!

I am pondering... making some changes to my schedule

A favorite quote for today...

Satan isn't afraid of me, but he is afraid of who is in me.

One of my favorite things...penny candy - or nowadays it is a nickle or dime apiece.  When we went to Branson, we went to a Woolworth Dime Store that was a lot like the Woolworth's I used to go to as a kid.  They had an assortment of candies that brought back memories.  Of course, I had to have a few of them.  (See the picture below.)

A few plans for the rest of the week: doing some paperwork each evening instead of waiting for Saturday ...

A peek into my day...

  1. We used to have a Woolworth's too. :-) Love that quote from Rick Warren. He has so many great tweets; I've been so encouraged at how honestly he is grieving, not trying to sweep it under the rug. It takes faith to show grief.

  2. I love your "I am thinking"... that sounds like a powerful sermon, and I really appreciated the point you mentioned about the Lord's name or any mention of him being erased on purpose by the world... that is so true. It reminds me of when I hear stories about people being disqualified from events or sports or anything because they talked about their faith. It's so sad.

I hope you enjoy your candies! It's such a gift that we can connect seeing candy or foods with our childhood and memories. Mine are lemondrops because we used to have them in our pantry or buy them at the store a lot.

I hope y'all had a wonderful trip to Branson also!

    Have a beautiful day♥
