Who Said .... ?

I have been collecting quotes since 2009. Funny, wise, or inspirational - I love them all.

Quotes teach wisdom:

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not. Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not. Unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not. The world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence, determination and hard work make the difference.
... Calvin Coolidge

I love gleaning spiritual truths from quotes:

Our Savior kneels down and gazes upon the darkest acts of our lives. But rather than recoil in horror, He reaches out in kindness and says, "I can clean that if you want."
... Max Lucado

Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness, and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again.
… Og Mandino

Quotes from literature:

'We're to seek for beauty... and refuse to see anything else."
... Lucy Maud Montgomery speaking as Anne of Avonlea

Beauty advice:

I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe that loving is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.

... Audrey Hepburn

It’s important to have a twinkle in your wrinkle.

I'd like to end with my all-time favorite quote, and a desire that I share with one of my heroes, Erma Bombeck:

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me'.

Do you have a favorite quote? I'd love it if you'd share!

This post was written in response to Writer's Workshop prompt 1.) List 6 of your favorite quotes. (Okay, I used 7 quotes, but I have five years of good stuff saved!)  If you would like to link up or see other quotes, visit Kathy's blog, Mama's Losin' It.

  1. The order to treat each person as if midnight is their expiration is so very wise. And so very hard to do. I have failed every single day.

I love the ones you shared... the Audrey Hepburn one is one I have heard before that I have always thought was beautiful. And the last one, your favorite, I think I heard of or read once but had forgotten- it's meaning is so wonderful though and makes you examine your life.

    Have a blessed day!! :)
