Here: Fully Present

HERE

When I was a kid, I was prone to daydreaming.  If things were going on in my life that brought me down, I just imagined them away.  Daydreaming became a way of life for me.

The idea of eucharisteo, the practice of being fully present, is a big challenge for me.  I do think it is an important idea.  Fully appreciating the gifts and blessings that God gives you can only be done if you are living in the here and now - not some dreamworld where everything is perfect.

I found out imagining a dream world is not very satisfying.

After all, I'm an imperfect being, my loved ones are imperfect, how can I expect my every day life to be perfect?

It would be boring if all were perfect.

Instead, I've thrown my heart into living in the present, seeing the beauty God has made, appreciating the gifts He has poured into my life, and loving my family and friends in spite of their flaws.

And desperately hoping they do the same for me.

STOP

Five Minute Friday

I love writing by prompts (I don't know if that says something about my creativity, or not!) On Fridays, I join the community at 5 Minute Friday who write for 5 minutes on the word selected by Lisa-Jo Baker.  Here are the rules:

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..

Sounds like fun, yes?  If you want to join us, go to Lisa-Jo Baker.com.

  1. "It would be boring if all were perfect." I love that. It is so true. I am working at doing the same... living my imperfect life today. It's a struggle for this perfectionist. Thank you for your words today!

That is beautiful! How much more content with our "here" would we be, if this was always our goal?

    Visiting from FMF!

  3. This is kind of what I wrote about too - being present right here and right now. It's easy to not live in the moment, but then we end up missing our own lives and what God is doing right now. Thanks for sharing your heart with us today. :)

  4. I've never been able to use much of an imagination and thought that is why I can't write fiction. Maybe there is a happy middle! LOL ♥♥♥
